According to an exclusive report on April 9, a third party individual 'A', a resident of Gwangyeok city in Gwangju, attempted to register the trademark to the English version of Kang Daniel's name as "KANG DANIEL" through an official patent back on March 15.
'A' submitted a patent for the name "KANG DANIEL" in two different categories - one dealing with video game software, rpg software, online game software, etc; and another dealing with event/performance business, entertainment/media/variety business, event coordination/consultation business, etc.
When contacted about this matter, both Kang Daniel's side and his label LM Entertainment's side responded that they are not affiliated with 'A'. Kang Daniel's lawyer revealed, "The figure who registered the trademarks to Kang Daniel's name is not affiliated with us. We are currently preparing internally so that we can respond with a legal objection or appeal."
LM Entertainment also reacted with, "We are currently unable to register any trademarks related to Kang Daniel, Due to our ongoing legal dispute with him, we have halted all activities related to his entertainment promotions. 'A' is not from our side. We have no idea who they are."
Previously back in February of this year, LM Entertainment registered the trademark for a similar, alphabetized name as "YOON JI SUNG" for their label artist Yoon Ji Sung.
What the fuck? Who do they think they are to trademark a human being's name?
