SBS's 'The Last Empress' extended by 4 episodes, but male lead Choi Jin Hyuk unable to film for extension

AKP STAFF

SBS's popular drama series 'The Last Empress' has been extended by 4 episodes (one week, two episodes per day); however, male lead Choi Jin Hyuk is unable to attend filming for any extensions.

On February 15, Choi Jin Hyuk's label G-Tree Creative revealed, "Choi Jin Hyuk is unable to appear in the extended episodes of 'The Last Empress'. His final appearance on the drama will be on episodes 47 and 48, which aired on February 14. We notified the drama staff of his unavailability in advance."

Instead of attending extended filming for 'The Last Empress', Choi Jin Hyuk will be overseas to keep his promise with fans at his solo Asia fan meeting.

The extended episodes of 'The Last Empress' will air next week, from February 20-21.

So some of the 'extended' scenes were shown already, I assume.

Um, I'm sorry but the Taiwan fan meeting is on the 28th, and the shooting for the last two episodes is before the 21st, this is such a sloppy, irresponsible excuse. I did admire him at the beginning of the drama, but such irresponsible behaviour and lack of professionalism is just appalling. I understand that Lee Hyuk got more attention but who is that to blame? Possibly the lack of presence the male lead demonstrated in the later parts of the drama? The writer has already tried so hard to give him the spotlight, giving him almost super powers to get his 'revenge', Chun Woobin is literally the smartest character of the whole drama, but still, Choi failed to appeal to the general audience.

I am not trying to hate on Choi, but quitting after the final script has been finalised is just straight-up juvenile and idiotic, considering how agitated SBS would be, and how much the writer (the famous Kim Soon Ok) will loathe him.

Also, can you guys imagine the pressure the rest of the cast will have to experience because of him? The writer will have to write a BRAND NEW ending that is probably not going to connect well with the previous episode, and the rest of the cast will have to remember the new script in such a short amount of time (Shin Sung Rok also has another drama's script he needs to get familiar with, I believe). I am so f**king happy that he does not get a 'happy ending' with Nara, he well and truly doesn't deserve it.
