PRISTIN fans are concerned about the group after supposed friend tweets bad news

PRISTIN fans' concern for the group continues to grow.

Many fans have been getting growingly anxious over PRISTIN's status, as the group has been hiatus for a very long time. Last year, beforePRISTIN V came out in May, an account that was close to PRISTIN said, "Don't worry, HIGHs. PRISTIN is preparing for a comeback. It will be around May. But I think only 5 of them are promoting (Someone is in surgery for an injury)." Because the post was made in April, many PRISTIN fans have come to believe the account as someone in fact close to the members.

The same account recently posted, "No matter how many endorsement deals PRISTIN gets, he just rejects it and he won't get them any events, either. Han Sung Soo, you crazy b*stard. Sung Soo, you messed up the lives of 9 people. Everyone is tired. People who are next to them are so worried. They themselves are trying to say it's okay and have the mindset to do anything. This doesn't make any sense. Sung Soo."

What do you think will happen to PRISTIN?

And is the company public?, cause the board or shareholders can oust him. He's looking for instant succes and when he doesn't get it he gives up like a loser instead of nurturing talent.

exactly it takes time, bts, exo, red velvet and other groups all took time to gain success. their debut song wasnt popular but they came out with more songs and more programs.

I really don't understand Pledis. Compared to other mid-tier companies they actually managed to debut many popular groups. All their groups had successful debut and hype during their rookie days and suddenly stopped promoting.

After school was one of big GGs,had hit songs, popular members, but Pledis suddenly stopped promoting them.

Orange caramel unit was doing so good with interesting and fresh concept. After popular song suddenly stopped promoting.

Hello Venus was also known name in the industry, solid mid tier GG.

Nuest debut song was most watched MV among rookies of that year but Pledis managed to screw them. Only P101 saved them,Pledis did nothing.

Now look at Pristin, girls were doing better than other post IOI ggs,but sudden hiatus.

Only Seventeen avoided this strange Pledis trend until now,but we don't know about the future.

the only reason seventeen wasnt screwed over is because they took matters into their own hands. they were set to debut in 2013, but pledis was so lazy and mismanaged and kept pushing it back. they were smart and learned early on that pledis was a trash company, so they went around promoting themselves by themselves. they are a top bg rn and pledis's main source of income. that CEO still has some brain cells left, albeit few, and knows that the day he neglects seventeen, it's all over for him. I just wish he could open his eyes and see the potential pristin has, and maybe learn to finally treat their artists right too.

After School was on the decline before they stopped promoting. Their sales were going down both in korea and japan, so it was not a sudden thing. They probably were not profitable or marketable enough. I have a feeling that what happened with OC was an internal thing though, considering Lizzy left the label the next year.

Hello Venus though is a sad thing. When they were managed by both Pledis and Fantagio they were doing great, but the moment the partnership ended, and the girls split up to go to different labels, was the end for them.

So true. PLEDIS almost screwed with SEVENTEEN's fan with their last single comeback "Getting Closer". Also tryed to sell off SEVENTEEN's rings too. They don't have any respect toward anyone.

PRISTIN's story will forever puzzle, how is it possible that a major non Big 3 label debuts a girl group with members from one of the biggest girl group in recent years and messes up this badly? HOW?????? Its almost like they expected them to debut at no.1 and got mad because they only made it to no.3

I won't believe in rumors and speculation until truths come out, but if anyone has any insight on this matter I'd love to hear it. I mean, we all know what happened with Nu'est- he pulled them from Korea too soon and had them do all these things overseas which didn't pick up enough traction. We saw their fall and then eventual rise from the ashes again after being on Produce 101. However, I genuinely don't understand why he would lock up Pristin so soon after they debuted. Were sales not what he thought they would be? I don't know how those logistics were, but it seemed from the K-netizen fanbase that they were popular enough. Maybe not on a level like SNSD and Twice, but they were doing well and beginning to form a fairly nice following. But then after the Kyla thing, it's like they were suddenly wiped from the map. I think that's why so many of these theories and rumors come out, because it just doesn't make sense for them to be pulled so swiftly and so early. It literally only seems like Kyulkyung gets much work, and that's all back in her home country of China.

Share

I believe that the girls contimuesly hiatus is due to Kyla still being a bit ill. Nothing more nothing less.. I mean yes svt have had members stay behind in the dorm because of injuries or being sick, but Kyla is one of their main or lead rappers, and have a unique tone when she raps and sing plus her dance is good..

Share

6

eager_beaver 20 days ago 3

It would be weird if they stayed on hiatus just because of one member, as some kind of a gesture of consideration towards her. It's bad for business, it's bad for the group, and it's strange considering that other groups continue working without members. Sure, Kyla is talented, but it's not like a group can't adapt when one of the more talented members is MIA. What would be the point of wasting the talents of other members who probably have debts to pay, who want to grow in the industry, while the company is haemorrhaging money, just for the sake of one member? What if the group finally gets disbanded in, let's say, 2021 without ever having made a comeback? What will their final statement be? "We really wanted to make a comeback, we had what it took, but we allowed years go by until we ran out of money and will, because it was the right thing to do out of respect for one missing member"?

Ummm, instead of asking all of those silly questions though, let's just remember the fact that we just ABSOLUTELY don't know what is REALLY going on with PRISTIN at this moment and we don't even know when the ladies will make a comeback at the moment either. So with that in mind, we will just have to wait patiently and see what Pledis Entertainment will say about PRISTIN at this point in time. Yeah, it's better for us to hear from the agency about what's going on with the ladies right now.

well, the Pristin songs weren't the best so far. I like the group and see their potential, yet you really need to have good song and a lot of luck (fan acceptance) to get what really counts: a lot of attention AND sales. I support girl groups writing their own stuff, yet this doesn't mean those songs will automatically be hits. The Pristin V track is actually the best so far... it would be sad to see them go down early.

My opinions may not be accurate but it's what I think is going on in Pledis Entertainment.

My Predictions about 2019 comebacks.

Pledis must be pretty busy with Seventeen's comeback at the moment. Usually companies do not want their groups to have comebacks all at the same time.

Seventeen - comeback album: You Make My Dawn

Nu'est - Since Wanna One has disbanded, I think it has been mentioned that they will have a five-member comeback soon

Kaeun - Lizzy announced that she would be debuting soon? - new girl group?

After School - Can we say that they've kinda disbanded. There's been no music since around 2013(?).

Raina is doing solo music and YouTube.

Nana - acting

E-Young - music academy

If Pledis is debuting another girl group, they will most likely be focusing more of their attention on them, but I really want the company to let Pristin have a comeback. It has been too long since their last full group comeback which was in August 2017.

It does and does not make sense why Han Sungsoo is debuting two girl groups in a row. What I mean is that usually companies debut a girl group and then a boy group or vice versa. But after Kaeun gained attention from Produce48, they most likely want to then form a group to better promote her.

While I think debuting Kaeun is a good thing, holding back on a possible Pristin (not sub-unit) comeback after a year and five months is too long.

why anyone is shocked about the news is beyond me tbh. Let’s not forget how he treated NU’EST before they gained fam and After School after they lost fam. I think in this situation it’s going to be another After School and Orange Caramel situation where Pledis will regularly promote the subunit over the whole group... which sucks for the other 5 members (that’s if Kayla hasn’t left).

Poor PRISTIN. If they were under any other company that would’ve already had their 4th whole group comeback by now...

Ironically, NU'EST (Pledis Boys) debut was one of the most anticipated debut in 2012.

No.2 in this survey right after EXO. Face also was the most viewed debut MV (before it was taken over by another group, and now currently Iz*One).

But, Pledis fuck them over by pulling them too early to Japan. But gladly they able to regain their popularity back (bcoz they already quite popular when they debut) through PD101.

https://www.soompi.com/article/368844wpp/pledis-boys-release-photos-from-the-set-of-mv-debut-mv-filming

"The seven members of Pledis Boys have been earning much attention even before they’ve made their official debut thanks to their handsome looks", "We heard that the Pledis Boys has already earned their own fancafe despite not having made their debut yet,"

https://www.allkpop.com/article/2012/03/nuest-releases-pledis-boys-magazine-ahead-of-their-march-debut

Sorry to disagree about Nu'est but you got it wrong and sending them to Japan wasn't the problem, what happened with Nu'est was this, yes they had a lot of hype when they debut but their popularity only rose with each comeback with Hello being the best of their old songs which is why we only every hear them sing that but two things happened afterwards which combined basically killed them.

1st: August 22, 2013 They released Sleep Talking which flopped and tanked their previous build up, this was a radical departure from everything they've done previously I don't know why they released this song but I do have a theory based on what the second point is.

2nd: October, 2013 It was announced Pledis was going to sign a joint deal with one of China's media giants YUEHUA Entertainment.

November 11 the deal was signed at a press conferrence with all of Pledis's artists and some YUEHUA artists present, Nu'est M with new member Jason performed at the event.

Jung Hae Chang (more on him later), the executive director of Pledis, said, "We have come to hold hands with major Chinese entertainment company YUEHUA Entertainment and are earnestly advancing into the Chinese market. This has happened from time to time with Japan, but this is the first time officially collaborating and advancing with a Chinese music agency. In addition, we have bigger expectations stemming from this collaboration because there is big potential in the Chinese market."

Ok that is the facts but here is my speculation based on what happened and what resulted from it; When a group has a comeback it takes months of preparation and the same with contracts between companies, they don't just suddenly happen, I think Sleep Talking was a Chinese song primarily that they just happened to release in Korea which is why it seems so weird and out of place. Now I don't have a problem with Pledis trying to break into the Chinese market it was a very bold move at the time and "if" it had worked out we wouldn't be talking about Nu'est and their past problems now, but it didn't work out and sending Nu'est to China and not Japan right after their last song flopped made recovery impossible for Nu'est but Pledis had to honour the contract they signed which sucks for Nu'est but not everything works out but at least Pledis tried to expand the market for their artists.

Now back to Jung Hae Chang Pledis's "executive director" the definition of which is this, 'The executive director is also responsible for the day-to-day operation of the organisation, which includes managing committees and staff as well as developing business plans in collaboration with the board. In essence, the board grants the executive director the authority to run the organisation.'

So basically the guy in charge of running Pledis and the guy who made the deal with YUEHUA so what about him?

February 15, 2016, "It's been revealed that the Chinese company (YUEHUA Entertainment) will advance further into the Korean entertainment sphere by opening up its very own local office, which will be managed by former chief of Pledis Entertainment, Jung Hae Chang, and an expert of the industry, Lee Sang Gyu, both of whom have earned the title of co-CEO.

This is not that big a surprise considering Yue Hua is already working with Starship Entertainment for UNIQ and upcoming girl group Cosmic Girls."

So the guy that made the deal with YUEHUA which ruined Nu'est is now working for that company as the CEO, if you want to blame someone for Nu'est he's a better contender than Sung Soo.

Well my bad. In their wiki page, at history portion, they only mentioned about their Japanese promotions. I didn't realize at the lower part of their wiki page, under sub-group section there was a mention about Nu'est M. Then I guess, Pledis fuck them up by pulling them too early to china (not Japan) then.

They do have decent success in their earlier stuffs, but along the way they were mismanaged. I read the contract on Nu'est M didn't last long. They signed it by Oct 2013, but by Dec 2014 the contract was already dissolved, and Nuest was even banned from China entertainment industry.

https://onehallyu.com/topic/122105-pledis-artists-banned-from-chinese-entertainment-industry/

Btw, I don't really care who is the exact person that fucked them over though. Bcoz at the end of the day, the board members still give the authority & agreed to that person decision.

Plus, Pledis have been quite known for having good debut/earlier stage with their acts, but they starts to mismanage them later on like Son Dam-bi, After School/Orange Caramel, etc.

Owh and thank you for the info btw.

OK let's be real here:

1) Pristin started off with all the hype and potential but Wee Woo killed it. The sound was okay but....the lyrics?? "I’m the princess of our house. I like adventures. I wanna blow the balloon that is you." Come on guys. This was Middle School level quality right here. Wee Woo was hella divisive for a reason. And even though Kyla is loved/pitied by Internationals, the girl literally brought nothing to the group other than hate. You guys know how Koreans are: they're visually oriented to a disgusting level. Korean fans of Pristin would have been bombarded with being mocked for liking "that Twice-copying group with the trash song and the fat member". You can imagine how much of a turn off this would be.

2) Pristin's one chance was to comeback with a bop. What happened? We Like happened. "Doo doo doood odooddoododoododoo dooo". I mean......really? Pledis couldn't bother to outsource a good song when this comeback was so so damn pivotal for the group? I know the girls helped composed the song and they CAN compose to a degree based on their B-sides....but this song should never have been Green lighted period.

3) Pristin V was basically Pledis' trial run to see if they could save the sinking ship that was Pristin. The song was outsourced and a bop, and Pledis even used the most popular members of the group. Guess what? It flopped hard and sold even less albums than the last one with We Like. This was the writing on the wall for Pristin's demise. It was too late: all the Korean fans had already abandoned them.

4) People like to rag on Pledis for their failure in promoting but you guys are barking up the wrong tree. What killed Pristin was the song choices, the fact that it wasn't Pristin V + Xiyeon from the start, and most importantly.....the fact that Korean Pristin fans left long ago.

5) Pledis' problem is as a business they won't invest in a group unless it can be seen as potentially being really successful. This can be seen time and time again. At this point Pristin is already dead in Korea and literally only a viral miracle could save the group. Pledis should really just re-brand a few of the girls as the revival of After School and add in Lee Kaeun and Heo Yunjin. That or they're planning to wait till the next female Produce season....... =/

I don't think the lyrics are a problem. Twice has ''My heart is fluttering, me likely *heart beat* noise', Momoland's lyrics for boom boom were like 'I'll give it you boom boom' and let's not forget about 'gee gee gee gee baby baby baby' ? If anything I would say its the weird cute vocalisation that let the song down slightly.

Regardless of that, cute/fresh, fun, catchy songs with memorable choreo and colourful music videos do well in Korea and thats what they had. The fact that they won rookie awards in 2017 means they generated some hype at least with their first two mini albums.

People are right to blame the company for how they handled things. Even if they released Get It as their debut track and something similar for the next title track, they would still be in the same position now because haven't had a full group comeback in like 18 months and they've not taken on any other activities that allows them to be seen outside of their song promotions (except for kyulkyung).

If the company doesn't communicate with the fanbase enough then they will lose supporters.

The lyrics wouldn't be a problem IF the song WAS actually cute/fresh, fun, and catchy. I'm not sure if you remember but Koreans bashed the hell out of Wee Woo, and there was also a ton of hate towards the group for winning over Chungha for ROTY. Right from the start, Pristin was going down a downward spiral, which you could see with the decrease of album sales from Wee Woo to We Like. This trend only means that fans were actively leaving them.

I'm not saying that Pledis did well with Pristin at all. But what I'm saying is that locking them away wasn't the cause for their downfall: They were already dead in the water at that point. I disagree about the Get It part. Get It flopped because Koreans literally didn't care about them anymore. During their debut, they were hyped to hell. I'm gonna stay with my belief that if they had come out with a quality song like Get It from the start, they could have kept their momentum up and Pledis would never have locked them up since they'd be making good money for the company

Knetz bash everyone. I remember them talking shit about Rookie by red velvet and they won a lot of music show awards with that song, more than they did for their previous Red songs.

Wee Woo was kinda annoying at first and a little cheesy but still catchy, it reminded me of some of Twice's songs. The melody was an earworm for sure and the track itself well produced, I just found some of the cute singing off putting.

Perhaps the response to Black Widow wasn't great so they decided to abandon that concept.

As much as I like Get It, I do feel like Rena's rap verse should have been longer, Nayoung's rap wasn't necessary. Plus they should have picked a main vocalist other than kyulkyung, she's good but she doesn't have the same maturity or attitude in her voice that some of the others do.

I bet if it had been a full group song, it still would have been the Nayoung and Kyulkyung (and Eunwoo?) show.

The problem with Pristin is that their top vocalists aren't given enough opportunities to shine in their title songs.

They have stage presence and a lot of potential but it is being wasted.

I still don't think it would have made a difference.

Also, promoting Get It at the same time ddu ddu ddu ddu was the wrong move.
