Hong Suk Chun expresses discomfort with interrupting Kai and Jennie's privacy with dating news

Hong Suk Chun shared his honest thoughts on Kai and Jennie's dating news.

On the January 21 airing of Channel A's 'I Heard It Through the Grapevine,' the reporters discussed Kai and Jennie's dating news which became a hot issue in the new year.

One reporter stated, "The title of Jennie's solo song was 'SOLO.' It would've been awkward if the scandal broke out in the middle of her promotions."

Meanwhile, Hong Suk Chun pointed out a problem and said, "Is the public's right to know that important? They are young idols. They can enjoy beautiful dates but does the public really have to know that at the beginning of the year?"

That man should be a national treasure! Fuck all the homophobia in Korea, Hong Suk Chun is the best, speaks his mind, sassy as fuck, adopted sisters kids so they would have a father, the man is just straight up awesome.

Seems to be the only one with a brain in his head. He should repeat it again for the knuckle heads in th back. "Is the public's right to know that important?"

yes, that is true, but most people become singers in korea for various reasons not just to become a celebrity. although idols and celebrities are supposed to be idolized and look upon a lot of the time. privacy should be important. no wonder idols are getting depressed ...

You're one of the knuckle heads I'm talking about. Obviously since Kai and Jennie's are public figures, but any information they don't release themselves the public doesn't have the right to know.

Hong Suk Chun just keeps adding reasons why I adore him. He speaks his mind so well and he faces everything with class. Not everyone would speak up about the invasion of privacy like he did.

I wish KPOP would stop making big deal with dating , and every thing they make big deal with it

look at ( hyuna and e'dawn ) or ( taeyeon & baekhyun )or ( sungmin from super junior when he get married)

they didn't do any thing why people so mean to them !!!

Yeah, they wonder why idols keep things like dating private because people make anything that happens a big hype.

yes we do. The more idol couples that are forced to come out, the more normalized idol dating will become. The goal is that one day it wont matter if idols date or not

I was wondering when Teddy gave her the title song for her SOLO Debut, if he knew about her dating. (since he is a YG producer, i was wondering if the higher ups in YG knew about it). it must be a awkward moment if the news came out while she was promoting it. I think compared to the Hyuna/EDawn issue, the "media damage to Blackpink" seems lesser, Both Pentagon and Blackpink debut in 2016, so EDawn and Jennie are both "rookies" in a sense of only having 2years plus from debut when the scandal came out.

Their dating partners, Kai and Hyuna are both very well known and famous and are "veterans" who have had renewed their contracts after more than 7 years in the agency.

but i think Blackpink had the advantage of a bigger fandom and a bigger agency than Cube and Pentagon.

People think its the female who tend to lose out when the scandal is out, but i feel its the GUY that then to lose out more, as the female fans of the male idol tend to be the ones who will go hysterial when they know of their oppa dating, and react more violently and sometimes aggressive.

i think whats important is what way the public find it out.. I know its very different in korea, but i dont think idols shouldnt have to hide the fact that they are with someone, he does have a point tho

I don't oppose idols dating (it's perfectly normal), but what I feel uncomfortable with is when idols sing love songs or say they love fans or do aegyo, all the while having a bf/gf. It's like watching married actors/actresses having kiss scenes and love scenarios w diff people (like the whole park bo gum/ song hye kyo thing). It's not wrong, just makes me a bit uncomfortable.

its work though for the acting part. and idols are just doing their job, but the park bo gum and song hye kyo thing is uncomfortable probs cause song hye kyo+song joong ki are like a major ship

But its techinically work for the idols as well. If they're acting cute with their fans and indulging them at fanmeets or on stage while they're dating, that's work.

It's cause they are marketing themselves as people who 'love' you. Their songs are wired toward an audience of teens/young adults who listen to them and will like them. They frequently use love songs or the word 'love,' their companies marketing them into an image that they will probably never be. Psychologically, it's definitely going to cause some sort shock to their fans. This isn't for me tho, I'm just saying that its like watching a girl who's already in a relationship acting cute to another guy for 'work.' It just makes me uncomfortable, that's all. I'm not saying it's wrong, just uncomfortable for me.
