Crazy thing is, their name is big, bold, and near the top of the list which means they are considered a big name artist performing there, according to the people who curate the artist lineup for Coachella. That's very impressive

YG paid for that

The name positioning and font size are negotiated and that is according to Coachella. BP are not more popular than Juice World or Ella Mai. Both of them topped the charts at number 1 and stayed for a long time with massive national radio play. I think Juice World is still ranking high and that's been for months. Interscope paid a pretty penny for that spot and font. That is the benefit of being with a Major US label. Deep pockets and pull. The headliner would naturally be first.

Thank you for speaking nothing but the truth! I'm not particularly a huge fan of Juice World but I know how huge he is. Ella Mai is my girl! Interscope 100% paid a decent amount for that billing for BP. They are doing what they are paid to do which is to promote them statewide, even if that means securing them a performance at Coachella where they don't quite fit the vibe. Its actually really silly for people to think that BP is more popular than some of the other artists in the lineup.

to be fair though, apart from childish gambino and diplo, there's not a single name on that friday list that is actually famous so i am not surprised that BP is seen as bigger than them. Whoever at YGE that managed to get BP on the friday set list did a great job

I'm thinking that they will perform with the band they used for their Seoul concerts and they will perform the rock version of DDU-DU DDU-DU!

Ok. I am gonna receive a lot of downvotes/bad comments for this. But I have to get it off my chest. And FYI, this is not targeted towards all of you, but just a few of you.

I just find it really amusing that when BTS started attending American shows or sang few verses in English, suddenly they were looked down for going global. For being westernized.

At the same time when some other group does the same, everyone is really supportive. Like, NCT and Red Velvet lowkey released the same songs in Korean and English. And now BP attending Coachella. All are in for it.

So basically BTS got hate bcos they were BTS? Lol!

They do an early sale in June with a payment plan and that's when I got it, but it's always a war to get tix for the weekend you want. General sale is tomorrow. There's also a 3rd sale in April for local residents, which I had to do 2 years ago since I didn't score a ticket the first two rounds, but that also sells out quick. If you are planning on buying tix, make sure you read all the info on the Coachella site cuz there are different types of tix and how to purchase

No chance that will happen. There are built in KPOP fans (like myself- 69 years old) that will fly to see groups they like-- Big Bang in Las Vegas (over 2,000 miles) , Tayeang in Attanta (over 500 miles)-- once in a lifetime chance. What do you think young people will do to get a chance to see their favorites. Blackpink is popular here as well - NOT dead - they may receive the same reception as BTS - and blow Americans that are unaware - away - and create a larger interest in the group.

The thing is it’s not a regular concert it’s a music/fashion festival.

It’s about $500 (one of the cheapest) for a pass and if you don’t live in California you have travel expenses.

The food and drinks prices alone is insane (albeit really good food though) and the demography is mostly for white early 20s to late 20s .

The passes will not be all for kpop lovers I mean juice wrld and childlish Gambino and Coachella fav janelle monae is playing not to mention so many other artists.

BP is not going to blow Americans away just as BTS hasn't. BTS is popular but they have not appealed to mass music buyers and that is why they don't have one single hit in the US even though they have had massive exposure. BP's vocals aren't even as good as prior groups like Destiny's Child, 5th Harmony etc but you think people will be wowed? Hopefully it will have a decent amount of Kpop fans and not many of our fellow Americans who will boo when they don't like something.

Congrats to BP. Interscope is already pushing you into the market. This could be a defining moment but some of us Americans can be judgmental. Loud playback with your vocals on it should not be used because you will surely get talked about. Best of luck. Coachella is a massive event.

I don't to sound mean, I love both of them but why the fuck? This is 100% unnecessary -_-. This is literally just using them for clout. I'm not sorry but they shouldn't be at Coachella (especially since their music is the opposite genre of what Coachella is for), it's just really unnecessary.

For clout uhhh Coachella doesn’t need clout, it’s some of the biggest music festival in the US but I 100% agree with you

A korean artist suited for Coachella would be Shaun... BP’s chores will seem so outdated and out of place around outrageous energetic carefree performers. The rapping part too.. when they’re surrounded with actual musicians from the hip hop scene. Damn

I agree! Though tbh I think Kpop, khip-hop, and etc should stay out of Coachella all together. It's just not necessary at all.

not clout...but guinea pigs. Theyre testing to see how kpop does in the festival scene for sure

Share

1

nnani 18 days ago 0

Kpop is relevantly popular so in sense it is for clout, knowing that BP is going to Coachella obviously a flock of fans are going to give them money for tix, JUST for BP so in sense it is for clout. But yes oof that's true, guinea pigs yes. But as stated there should be no testing, they shouldn't be there at all lol, any Korean Ent act, it's not necessary. I agree with you for sure though.
