'2018 MAMA' announces their Korea lineup including Wanna One, Stray Kids, LOONA, (G)I-DLE, and much more

Wanna One
'2018 MAMA' has made the lineup announcement to their Korean show.

They've previously announced some artists for their Japan show, and now they've released their Korea lineup. It's uncertain if it's the full lineup, but if not, it is definitely quite a bulk. The lineup includes Wanna One, Stray Kids, Kim Dong Han, Hyung Seob x Eui Woong, The Boyz, LOONA, IZ*ONE, (G)I-DLE, and more not just from Korea, but also all around Asia.

Check out all of the announced artists below.

There are two other events you know, you can't really expect the same big groups to attend all three events. Besides this is the rookie awarding show so inviting all the nominated rookie groups/artists makes perfect sense.

With how many artists are attending MAMA these days (not just Korean) that's simply not possible anymore. Unless you want a 6+ hour award show?

don't know how but then how did they do it all these years with only one place? they just started to do it in 3 places last year.

Mnet wants to expand itself across Asia. That's why it's 3 days in all different countries instead of 3 days in one country. There are way too many new award shows that keep coming out (MGAs, SOBA, AAA). Things change, MAMA wants to stand out.

Also when would you ever see lesser known artists like fromis 9, GWSN, The Boyz and etc attend award shows? Usually bigger groups are the ones to be invited, that's one positive about MAMA.

Not to be mean, but it would have been a lot cooler if they had Kanji Keyakizaka46 perform instead of Hiragana. But congrats anyway ;)

Are they all gonna perform? If so, is good they are giving small groups a chance on big stage.

Loona is the group that we thought was gonna get ROTY until (G)I-DLE blew up... then (G)I-DLE was the group we thought would get ROTY until IZ*ONE debuted... now who TF knows? 😅

Dying at 'Hiragana Keyakizaka46'... it's like one of those baking orders where the instructions end up printed on the cake. Just when you thought the AKB group names couldn't get any weirder...

Hilarity aside, some great girl groups will be there! I admit I can't wait to see the fighting between LOONA/(G)-IDLE/IZ*ONE fans exploding all over the Internet...

There are two Keyakizaka46 so to differentiate one team has their group name written in Kanji while the other in Hiragana.

Yeah I was actually having fun reading the fanwar between Orbits and Neverlands about who will win ROTY earlier this year then suddenly IZ*ONE came in to the picture and both fandom got triggered.

I never realised there were two, I was convinced it was a mistake until I looked it up and saw it was an actual thing. I've probably seen the name written both ways and just assumed some people were as bad at kanji as me.

As someone who likes all three groups to varying degrees the fanwars are a real guilty pleasure, I want for everything to just be positive but sometimes it's just too funny. The other night I was reading something where some Orbits seemed to be seriously on the edge of having convinced themselves that IZ*ONE was a big conspiracy to bring LOONA down...
