During a recent broadcast of SBS PowerFM's 'Cultwo Show,' Rookie girl group GWSN shared the several meanings behind their group name.

Sometime during the interview portion of the broadcast, radio host Kim Tae Gyun asked the group what their name means.

"The truth is GWSN actually has three meanings. The first is 'gong-won' [the Korean word for 'park']. A 'gong-won' is a place where men and women of all ages can have fun, heal, and dream. It means that just like a park, we want to give fans fun, healing, and dreams through our music," GWSN leader Seoryeong explained.

Member Seokyoung added that the GWSN acronym also held a special English meaning for the group. The G stands for 'ground,' and WSN stand for directional markers 'west,' 'south,' and 'north.' The meaning behind this, she said, was that they want to become a group that receives love from people all over.

Lastly, member Anne shared the third meaning behind the group's name. The word 'gong-won' can also be translated into 'gong' - the Korean word for 'zero' - and 'won' can also represent the English word 'one'.

"It means that when the seven members get together, we will forever be one," she elaborated.

Kim Tae Gyun then asked the members if there had been other group name candidates that had been considered before their debut.

"Originally, our group name was going to be Kiwi Girls," Seoryeong revealed. "That name came about because our agency is Kiwi Media Group."

Which name do you think GWSN should have debuted with? GWSN or Kiwi Girls?
