Japanese idol Tano Yuka apologizes for making hate remarks about South Korea

Japanese idol Tano Yuka apologized for her remarks.

During a recent Instagram live, a fan asked Tano Yuka if she had cosmetic surgery on her eyes. The idol answered, "No" and suddenly mentioned South Korea. She stated, "I think everyone who visited South Korea has undergone surgery" and said, "I hate those people who love Korea."

She continued, "I hate Japanese who love Korea. Do you know what I mean? Like... I hate those people who try to be Korean."

Tano Yuka also talked about Korean makeup and how it only looks good on certain people and revealed she enjoys checking out different Instagram accounts but automatically ignores them if she sees Korean in their bio.

The idol's remarks regarding South Korea led to a controversy following the live airing. In response, Tano Yuka shared an apology via Twitter on February 5.

She stated, "During my Instagram live, I have hurt people with remarks that can cause misunderstandings. I'm reflecting on my thoughtless and selfish remarks. I will make sure such an incident doesn't occur again. I sincerely apologize."
