Recently, it has come to light that some fans from Teen Top's fandom Angel have started to ask and request that Wanna One's fandom Wannable to stop calling Kang Daniel as "Niel" for a nickname.
Teen Top fans have stated that Teen Top's Niel is his official stage name he has been using for the past seven years which derived from his real name Ahn Daniel. Therefore, they have been asking Wannables�to stop calling Kang Daniel as "Niel", "Nyel", or "Nelly", but instead, find him a new nickname or simply call him Daniel.
Since the controversy, many netizens and fans spoke up about the matter, "Okay let's say the use of Niel isn't fair but preventing them to use Nyel or Nelly is little too much", "Oh okay then did Teen Top's Niel ask the actor Choi Daniel if he can use it beforehand?", "It's his real name though...they both have the same real name, what can you do?", "Stop over reacting, this is laughable", "The truth of the matter is that if you type in Niel on a search engine, only Kang Daniel shows up. That's the real reason", and much more.
