The two previously collaborated for IU's track "Can't Love You Anymore" from her recent album 'Palette', which earned a perfect all-kill on music charts. On the May 20th broadcast of SBS Power FM's 'Cultwo Show', Oh Hyuk said of their collaboration, "We spoke about collaborating for a long time, but our schedules didn't line up so we pushed it back. For her recent album, she asked me to help her out."

He continued, "We met on 'Infinity Challenge' and continued to be friends," adding, "She's really smart, but I haven't thought about what kind of musician she is."

How did you like IU's "Can't Love You Anymore" featuring Oh Hyuk?

why are people starting to forget about her being lolita?..

melon lovelunaa Saturday, May 20, 2017

Define Lolita for me?

krell melon Sunday, May 21, 2017

@lovelunaa <-- TROLL (mostly) ... IF you want a good discussion of the LOLITA and K-pop Issue --> ... https://koreaexpose. com/sulli-k-pops-lolita-hypocrisy/

Iu and Sulli both adults. They are not underage girl being provocative. I feel it's unfair to tell them they look young and youthful so they can't be sexy. Why's other people not wearing bra or taking Photoshoot in bikini/underwear ok but IU and sulli can't. I can understand people hate them but they just don't fit in the definition of Lolita in my opinion.

lovelunaa melon Sunday, May 21, 2017

when did anyone say "because they look youthful they cant be sexy" here????? gtfo. she got in trouble because of her usage of the baby bottle and sexualizing a young boy. sulli got hate for supporting a known lolita photographer and that baby oil tshirt.

IARMYGIRL93 Saturday, May 20, 2017

I know some people may hate this but they make a good match.

OH HYUK probably needs to spend more time defining 'canned answers' to questions that he is likely to be asked them. Saying that he has NOT even thought about IU as a Musical Song Composer (her style ; etc) is probably *not* the best thing to say it. However, it IS probably honest ; and not really so bad either ... Putting this another way ; IF you collaborate with say IU ; then you ARE likely to be asked certain questions about IU. So, you want to have planned, IN ADVANCE, answers that are honest, and also ADVANTAGEOUS for you to say it.

Amber_B krell Sunday, May 21, 2017

It's refreshing to hear honesty instead of the usual politically correct crap

krell Amber_B Sunday, May 21, 2017

I am *sympathetic* to your viewpoint. BUT, S.KOREA seems a nation *fixated* on 'detecting the offending' remark about someone else ; no matter how trivial that it might be. And THEN, one proceeds onward to the 'debate' about whether the APOLOGY (over something TRIVIAL) was SINCERE ENOUGH. So yes, I feel that I *do* follow your logic here ...

stillnotalice Amber_B Sunday, May 21, 2017

idk, I think it might be honest but I don't think it's particularly refreshing. Maybe because I don't think it's so much to do with not being politically correct or manufactured as being simply inexplicable. Because is he seriously saying that he's never thought of what kind of musician she is despite having collaborated with her? As someone who usually has good thoughts about his vision, he really agreed to collaborate with someone whose music he has no opinion on? When IU talked about their collaboration, she mentioned how they had differences and that their opinions clashed and they created a good song through compromise. So clearly they're both people who have strong opinions about their music and that collaboration would have surely made them aware of what kind of person the other is musically. He doesn't have to like all her music or even her, but to have no opinion at all as a musician seems rather odd to me. I think this rubs me the wrong way because it sometimes seems like Oh Hyuk almost never talks about IU's music, despite talking about her personally, because he thinks she's too commercial or something, and he's in the indie circuit and it would threaten his street cred. It would have been vastly more interesting to hear his thoughts on their music and where they differ or merge, considering how often they join for concerts etc. as well. Why on earth would they have spoken about collaborating for a long time if they legit had no musical interest in each other. Does not compute.

Amber_B stillnotalice Sunday, May 21, 2017

He said he had 'no thoughts' about her as a musician not that he had not heard her music. I take that as meaning he has no opinion on it either way. Surely you hear music that you neither like or dislike ? I think he may have collaborated with her to see what the fusion of them together would sound like ? If he thought it was not musically authentic he would have stopped it and that would be his prerogative. I think you are harshly criticising him for no reason . I think it was refreshing because I am sick of hearing sycophantic comments about how everyone is great talented etc when you can blatant see they don't mean it . I can also think of lots of collaborations where both parties had no interest in each other but produced good songs .

stillnotalice Amber_B Sunday, May 21, 2017

To have no thoughts about her as a musician despite saying that they'd discussed collaboration several times and actually collaborated and their friendship started on a music show? I don't know, I understand what you mean, but it doesn't sound particularly authentic to me. I'm not sure how many collaborations he's done before, but surely with people as involved with their music as IU and Oh Hyuk are, you don't go into something like this without an understanding of the others' music and try and find a common vision. (Unless he legit doesn't care about whom he collaborates with or lends his voice to and was just doing a favor for a friend without any interest in the process- which, to me, from previous news, seems unlikely.) I don't think my criticism is harsh in any way, I love his music, but I do find this statement odd. He doesn't need to be syncophantic, but to have NO thoughts on a fellow musician you've collaborated with, especially in a song where they were both deeply involved in the process, is strange to me. I can think of company collaborations (especially with idols) where both parties may have no interest in each other, but this sounds like it was a personal collaboration, individually decided on, and a culmination of previous talks. You think it's honest, and I feel like it's no different from all the sycophantic comments, except from the reverse angle of not wanting to be mainstream and equally on brand as the syncophants. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

krell stillnotalice Sunday, May 21, 2017

@stillnotalice ; @Amber_B <-- I think that *both* of you made GOOD POINTS in your above two messages ; I did UP VOTE them. My view is that it is *safer* to be a "sycophant" in S.KOREA ; than being all that honest. But where @stillnotalice asks --> "Because is he (OH HYUK) seriously saying that he's never thought of what kind of musician (IU) she is despite having collaborated with her?" <-- *THAT* accurately sums up my reaction too. And "INEXPLICABLE" is a valid reaction to OH HYUK, as I see it. FAR SAFER to try to say something POSITIVE about IU's 'sense of what works for her' in Musical Composition ; or like that ... (Joking) MAYBE OH HYUK had been drinking a few too many SOJU's (alcohol) somewhere? ... But also, I do *not* see this OH HYUK statement as a BIG DEAL that is worthy of DEMANDING AN APOLOGY of some sort. Although, I *suspect* that SOME IU Fans will see it that way ; that IU has been 'shaded' somehow for no reason. My *original* point still remains that I suggest that OH HYUK needs to do *better* on ANTICIPATING certain questions about IU, and figure IN ADVANCE what is *best* to say it. Even IF perhaps that might be a bit 'deceptive' in terms of his 'honest opinion' of IU's Music Composition abilities ... (Joking More) ... Plus, to be BLUNT, IU has a *LOT* of FANS. Who just *might* see the OH HYUK statement as one of say an "Over Rated 'INGRATE' who was ALLOWED to collaborate with IU." ... And then, the TROLLS start leaving MESSAGES on the OH HYUK *INSTAGRAM* account of just 'how much' that IU Fans 'appreciate' him ... And OH HYUK has to change his INSTAGRAM to PRIVATE MODE ....

Amber_B stillnotalice Sunday, May 21, 2017

Yes we can agree to disagree ... that's what intelligent adults do isn't it? I have no views on IU at all really. I find him really sweet unassuming and really talented that's why I made my comments.

stillnotalice Amber_B Sunday, May 21, 2017

Yes, of course. I really like him and his voice is phenomenal, which is why, as he's one of my favorite artists, I found his comment kind of disappointing. I would have actually been happier had he said something thoughtful, if not entirely positive, rather than have no opinion. I would respect that as an artistic choice, this, to me seems rather unbelievable.

Amber_B stillnotalice Sunday, May 21, 2017

Some people don't want to form opinions ..they would rather just take each day and each situation as it comes . I listen to his music and enjoy it. Simple
