"Ending Scene" isn't IU's title song, but is a special, dramatized MV, once again testing out the chemistry between IU and Kim Soo Hyun, whom IU personally recruited for her new MV. The song was composed by Sam Kim with lyrics written by IU.

Loved the video and the he song! Can someone explain to me what the mv was about though?

someone in the youtube comments explained it better, but it's basically about how IU is reminiscing on their relationship. The channel numbers represent the number of days they were together, from when they first became a couple to when they broke up. KSH cutting his strings signifies that he's the first one to fall out of love with her, and at the end, IU cutting her strings signifies that she realizes that she has to move on from him. In a way I think this is tied to her and Jang Kiha's former relationship (which isn't surprising since IU tends to draw from experience when writing her songs). Like they were happy together in the beginning, but then they eventually fell out of love with each other 3 years into their relationship. In the MV, KSH and IU's relationship lasted 999 days according to the channel numbers...and 999 days is almost 3 years.

maybe once IU finds the right person, her songs will be happier. she's always longing for something. her songs have a bittersweet trademark. it's nice but listening to them when your heart is breaking can be deadly. lol
