Dara opened up about the criticism she received on her acting in an interview with Herald Pop.

The former 2NE1 member is expanding her career in acting with her first film 'One Step', an upcoming role in the movie version of 'Cheese in the Trap', and more. However, as an idol-turned-actress, Dara has been continuously criticized for her ''poor'' performance. Many viewers pointed out that her high-pitched voice makes it difficult to concentrate on her acting.

Regarding the criticism, Dara said, "I have a unique tone of my own. I was criticized for poor acting and there were times when I was intimidated."

She explained, "To be honest, my parts in 2NE1's ballad tracks were very few. They had a sad vibe but I was told that my voice tone doesn't suit them. 'Missing You' is one of them. My parts were especially short in the sad songs. In the past, I purposely sang in a low tone but I'm naturally high-pitched so it didn't change so easily."

However, Dara expressed her strong determination regardless, saying, "I learned a lot through experiences. I also desire to convince the public with my voice. I changed my mindl to focus on my positive qualities rather than the negatives. I have the desire to make the discomfort [my voice causes] go away."

Fighting, Dara!

She shouldn't be so insecurely about her voice tbh. Her vocals are so wonderful and sweet and 2NE1 would never sound the same without her :-)

Everyone gets criticised we just have to deal with it and not give a shit.

That's actually a very good and wise reason as to why she has small parts in sad songs. I always wondered why on the sad songs her parts are small compared to the hyped ones. I never once thought about the tone of her voice is hard to fit every color musically. I understand and I agree with it. She's obviously been work very hard, so I am very happy and satisfied that she cleared things up.

WOW, the number of hypocrites in the comment section overflows. They blame Knetz for spouting mean opinions leading to the disbandment of groups like 2NE1. Now these very fans who don't like Knetz are sounding exactly like them, hurling stones at Dara and saying she can't act or has a weak voice. Are you supposed to be directors, producers and talent scouts or somethin? What makes you think you're any better? I bet if you're in Dara's shoes you'd have committed suicide a long time ago. But since Dara is not of your level, she always rises above non-constructive and obviously tainted criticisms and hypocritical comments. If only more people are like Dara, there'd be less keyboard warriors in this world.

I'm sure she'll land a bright and perky role, it'll prolly fit her much better anyways.

I've watched her and Dara is a decent to pretty good actress in my opinion but I guess they have this thing about actors having a lower pitched tone in Korea. I hope she can convince the doubters because she has potential to be great.

As long as she's still enjoying what she's doing and making her fans happy by being very active is all that really matters. Because in the end no matter how "amazing" you are at what you do, you will still end up receiving hate. You can't please everyone. I think Dara's doing great on her own and she will always be an idol that I support:)
