Minhyuk's subsequent explanation letter about the incident has now even caused more confusion and controversy as it seems he unintentionally lied about the identity of who he sent a message to on Instagram. Though he alleged he sent a message to his ex-girlfriend, the receiver of the message has stated she has never dated the idol star.
In response, Cube Entertainment said, "This is an official statement regarding BTOB Minhyuk's false explanation controversy regarding his ex-girlfriend. Minhyuk had been dating his former girlfriend for 4 months, and they exchanged messages about how they are doing every now and then. He came across someone who looked just like her and was curious about how she was doing as it's been a while. He then sent a message, and it's caused a controversy. We're revealing that all the false rumors circulating his 'false explanation' are not true. We apologize that the explanation he made in order to prevent fans from misunderstanding has caused even more confusion and worry."
As previously reported, Minhyuk wrote a letter to fans explaining the angry comment left on his Instagram by the boyfriend of his alleged ex-girlfriend. According to Minhyuk, he wanted to know how she was doing and sent a private message on Instagram not knowing she was currently in a relationship. Seeing the message, which said "Why don't I have your number?", her boyfriend posted a comment on Minhyuk's Instagram that caused drama among his social media followers. The reported former girlfriend has come out to state she's never dated the BTOB member, and Cube Entertainment's statement backs this up.
