The March 17 episode of tvN's 'New Journey to the West 2.5' featured Super Junior member Kyuhyun.

Producer Na Young Seok and writer Wang sat down with the idol star for an interview. "You may wonder why my Chinese is so bad since I had lived in China,"

began Kyuhyun.  Hearing this, the staff commented, "We never said that."

Kyuhyun went on, "Believe it or not, when I was living in Beijing, Super Junior was as popular as EXO is now."

With that, a staff member shouted, "Believe it!" agreeing with the idol star.

Netizens commented, "I believe it!", "We agree with that statement," "Super Junior was quite a hit back then," "This was hilarious!" "Super Junior was big during the 'Sorry Sorry' days.'"

They are still a loved group for me. I feel they still have a lot to give their fans. SuJu fighting.

true enough that they are not as popular as EXO or other groups right now which is understandable as fame will decrease with time plus they are on hiatus as a group. And on my opinion SJ already reached the peak of their careers, they sold lots of albums, won numerous song/album awards, went to lots of countries, they all have recognizable careers as indivuduals, most has businesses of their own & they got lots of negative issues too. But still isn't it nice to be able to expect something from them at this age & still feel crazy whenever teasers starts to appear? I think they still have that "power" to draw in the crowd not as powerful as those years though. I pray for a nice comeback!

Whats good with Super Junior is that since they started their careers older than than a lot of idols, they can still manage to be appealing to the public and not just consumers of KPop therefore, they might no longer dominate music sales, they still manage to hold the public interest via variety shows. I think this is a good transition for them because its a consistent screen time and will give them a more mature audience. As an ELF, I no longer expect them to chart greatly but I'm very happy to see them on their regular gigs. Plus, when the 2nd generation idols starts leaving for the military, Super Junior is starting to be whole again and that's something to look forward too!

I think Super Junior as a whole has majorly decreased in popularity due to so many members missing. But I think that they have become more popular as individuals, Especially Kyuhyun. Once all the members are back I reckon they will be more popular again :P

It's really just cuz SJ is being very inactive now as many members are going in the army, so ofc, it would be hard to release album/promote as a group. Let's just wait patiently for all the members to finish their military ><

It is not much noticeable now because SuJu is on hiatus but they are still quite popular. they are just not the trend anymore. but who it is 4ever a trend?!!! everything that goes up will fall eventually one day so there is no group that can be a trend forever. Counting that the group still have an stable and strong fandom, even if they are not the trend anymore, the group can continue be popular

although the article is poorly written, I get the content. LOL. Super Junior is still BIG. The height of their success might not be as much as 5 years ago but  it's because they're beyond that now. SUJU is a legendary group. 12 yrs later and you're still here. still loved by many and still selling out tickets. that's a feat not many can survive. some kpop groups may be the "core" of the korean wave, but SuJu is the "heart" of that core. SuJu was the first idol group I stan.. (just SUJU, KARA , WG and INFINITE actually) from 2005 until now.. If BoA crossed kpop to Japan. Suju made it global.. and that's why we are now living in this kpop world.
