Great news! New music from TWICE! With 'Twicecoaster: Lane 2,' we have all the songs from 'Twicecoaster: Lane 1,' and three new ones: "Knock Knock," "Melting / Ice Cream," and "TT (TAK Remix)." As you probably know by now, "Knock Knock" burned up the charts and in case you're wondering, the review for 'Lane 1' can be found here. I always figured there would be a sequel, and this is a great nod to that idea.

Title track "Knock Knock" really does live up to the hype and its well-deserved perfect all-kill chart position. The song is catchy and cute and gets under your skin, it doesn't let up until the end. The stuttery refrain is the perfect hook, and the bridge is sweet, if short. The hook is introduced early, but this doesn't ruin the fun and the repetition really helps. There are aegyo parts throughout like it was made to be performed with tons of winking and gesturing. I think, though, it's a contender for most repetitions of a single word in a pop song.

"Melting / Ice Cream" is a sweet piece of R&B. There are funk flourishes, and it has a sweet and steady melody and a slightly sultry beat. I like some of the time changes here and it really stands as one of the best tracks on 'Lane 2.' It's extremely well-packaged, though not all the girls have much of a chance to shine on this one. It's a nice come-down from the frenetic energy of "Knock Knock."

"TT (TAK Remix)" is not even close to being as good as the original. Where the first song had a natural flow to it, this one has decidedly unnatural starts and stops that are more jarring than genius, and near the end, there's a strange, tacked-on dubstep refrain. "TT" itself is a great single, and a great single screams "I don't need a remix."  I'm not sure what they were trying to do here, but to my ears, they did not succeed.

Overall, I think this is a pretty good repackage. You get all the songs from the mega-successful 'Lane 1,' as well as two super-solid additional songs. If you're looking for a way to get into TWICE, this album is for you. Even if you're already a fan, it's definitely worth your while to check out this one.

The first thing you notice about this MV is that it's drenched in aegyo. Almost every movement in this production has a cutesy element to it. If you hate aegyo, then close your eyes. You'll get more than your fill if you keep 'em open.

The setup (besides the girls dancing and knocking at each other's backs) is a slumber party. A knock on the door reveals a goofy, smiling J.Y. Park himself, and they shut the door on him.  Another knock reveals a book, which flies open magically to reveal illustrations relating to some of the costumes in this video's predecessor "TT." Soon they see that it's snowing, so what do you do at a slumber party but run outside in your pajamas to have a snowball fight? Um, no. They bring it back to "TT" in another fun way, with the kids in their Halloween costumes in the mansion. My only question is this: what did those kids see at the end that made them gape like that? Was it JYP again? Or maybe some frozen TWICEsicles?

The girls play their parts well. I'd love to see the detailed storyboards on this, as the stack would have to be several feet thick to keep track of all the little things they do from waving, to making claws with their fingers, to placing their fingers over their eyes and peering out the gaps. And the pillow fight was also funny to see.

Still, there was absolutely no dearth of visuals. There are rooms splashed with bright colors, an adorable wardrobe, and their antics were unquestionably light-hearted and fun. Everything pulls you in, and the melody keeps things moving along. Yeah, this is one you should put on your "to watch" list.

this writer is biased AF

lechuga Tuesday, February 28, 2017

Is there a actual point system in general?? Lol i find it funny how there are scores like 5.7, 8.3, 1.7. Like it's not a full point 5 or 7? And everyone gets defensive "i don't agree with the 6.2, it should have been a 5.6 and a half" bruh 😂😂😂

And_I_Quote Monday, February 27, 2017

I don't know about others but, to me, TT and Knock Knock are way better than Like Ooh Ahh and Cheer Up. No matter how many times I listen to those two songs I will never like them but TT and Knock Knock I liked around first listen so I'm glad with how Twice's music is evolving :)

And_I_Quote Monday, February 27, 2017

And when I say they're "better," I just meant the songs are "better" to listen to for me. I felt like I needed to clarify that.

Broken_Red Monday, February 27, 2017

I was a little bit disappointed because I was expecting Lane 2 to have new 7 different tracklist

krmmei Monday, February 27, 2017

No hate, just my opinion. I have to agree this album was quite good, I loved 1 to 10 and Melting. TT and Knock Knock song quality wasn't up-to-par with the likes of Like Ooh Ahh and Cheer Up but they were eh, not bad and still hit daebak regardless. I think this is quite towards TWICE, at least for my taste, the album wasn't as good as The Story Begins and Page Two yet it still got one of the highest scores I've seen. I think the writer was quite bias towards TWICE and probably listened to the songs multiple times unlike other albums which they might've only listened to about once or twice.

TWICE KNOCK KNOCK 무대 뒤에서 behind the scenes MV :

winryalp Sunday, February 26, 2017

I'm an Once and totally agree with some comments that the writer must be fan and super hook to the album. This album is good but i see the unfair amount of points the writer gave. I will totally rate for 8.0 the album production as this is a repackaged album. Another same point for the album concept then 7.8 for the overall  MV point (TT and Cheer Up are still the Twice's best MVs so far). Again because they only reproduce this album again and added three new songs then will give 7.7 for the points. And that's totally unbiased short review from me. On the other hand people don't bring unnecessary aspects like live performances etc cause this is an ALBUM REVIEW. Chill people. And yes i love "Melting" too surprisingly this fits them well! hope to see similar type of song again in the future. Keep up the good work TWICE! FIGHTING!

krmmei winryalp Monday, February 27, 2017

Yes! Totally agree, I would give the album only like a 7.5 or 8.

AyanaShinozaki Sunday, February 26, 2017

People disliking the reviewers opinion but get triggered when other people dislike their opinion. The irony.

KarmaButterfly01 AyanaShinozaki Monday, February 27, 2017

There's a different between giving your opinion and downvote every comment that you don't like

shubhajan KarmaButterfly01 Monday, February 27, 2017

no what she is saying is that, people are getting tirggered by the reviewers opinion, saying stuff like how they dislike it and there being bias, but when its the other way round, when other people dont like the first peoples opinion, they people get all triggered like they did nothing wrong

Kjustice shubhajan Monday, February 27, 2017

I think @AyanaShinozaki talking about what @KarmaButterfly01 said => dislike = downvote, because s/he make a comment after read my comment below. Pardon me if I wrong.

KarmaButterfly01 shubhajan Monday, February 27, 2017

No, the only thing this girl is doing is downvoting every comment that don't agree with the reviewers point of view, even when the comments are respectful.

Kjustice KarmaButterfly01 Monday, February 27, 2017

Really? so s/he is one of them who disliking non positive person opinion? Didn't know that, but hope s/he will change those behavior after read my reply to her/him on my comment bellow (about the reason there's dislike button on every user comment and about the reason there's no dislike button on the allkpop article anymore).

KarmaButterfly01 Kjustice Monday, February 27, 2017

nah, I read your comment and you are right in everything, but this kind of people doesn't change

Kjustice Sunday, February 26, 2017

LOL-ed about the amount of dislike to the person who stated their own opinion that's not a positive one (I'm talking about a person not a troll, there's so much difference between a person opinion and troll statement).

AyanaShinozaki Kjustice Sunday, February 26, 2017

I don't see what the problem is. People can disagree with their opinions just like those people are disagreeing with the reviewer's opinion. Just because it's their own opinion doesn't mean anyone has to agree with it.

Kjustice AyanaShinozaki Sunday, February 26, 2017

There's no need to disliking their comment though, because if your comment got more dislike than like the color will disappear and hard to read. This feature be used by allkpop site to punish those trolls that make comment section of the article became a mess. Yes, everyone can agree and disagree with the comment, that's why there's reply button. You can argue the comment made by other if you have different opinion than her/him with another comment. That's why there's no dislike button in the article section anymore, so allkpop users can't just disliking the writers article, if they disagree, then they can make a comment in the comment section with a reason or logical opinion not a troll one. [ps. There's no need to explain why we like something, but there's always a reason when we dislike it and by explaining, the one that we don't like will knows our reason"]

eager_beaver Sunday, February 26, 2017
