Music sites will be changing their real-time charts.

Melon, Bugs, Genie, Soribada, Naver Music, Monkey3, Mnet, and more will be changing their real-time charts so that ranking is only taken from 12PM to 6PM KST. While the chart will remain in place, the data will only be taken in during the above time. This means that even if groups release songs at midnight, the real-time data won't take into place until starting at noon that day.

This is going to make a big change for when idols release their songs. Originally, singers had released their songs at noon, but almost all idols release songs at midnight now because at that time, less of the general public is streaming music. When released at midnight, the fandom can easily get their artists to slam an all-kill on music sites.

The issue of a midnight release had been long been criticized because once an artist (most of the time, an idol group) has lined up most of their songs within the Top 10 places, that effects the morning charts as well. The change in the system is also hoping to minimize instances of sajaegi

What do you think will happen?

Why people take it seriously? You can support your favorite artist whenever you want I don't give a shit about all-kill and YT views, just enjoy it, it's not something to rival about, also that's really good move to give a chance to other artists and groups and to be fair. The funny thing is that I read from other fans it's a conspiracy from the the Big3 companies! Are you serious? Really stop this nonsense and stop to victims your idols this is makes me sick, I think they did this for fairness and because of the so much load they got last 2 days

u might not give a shit abt views and records and stuff like that then that means u r not fully supporting the artist 100% why? because the artist in this case bts deserves their songs in which they put hard work and their talent to reach the whole whole. every artist desires to be on top and putting their songs on top of charts and higher views allows them that exposure. anyway u enjoy the artist while the rest of the fandom puts in all of the hard work in getting our boys on top :)

WonderSara LveKimTae Thursday, February 16, 2017

Don't get too sensitive about this whole thing, I supported them and I still, but yeah maybe you are right I'm not fully supportive 100% fan to certain artist because I'm fan to so many of them I support all of them whom deserves to be on top and they really worked hard as you said not just bts, good luck to the all amazing artists and groups, just calm down ;)

LveKimTae WonderSara Thursday, February 16, 2017

ok as long as u r supporting them in this comeback then we're cool. we need all the help we can get :)

omg then people will stop releasing stuff at 12am kst!! thats perfect time for me lol i get home at half 2pm and songs all come out 3pm my time :(

diela_uknow7 Wednesday, February 15, 2017

New system better because the artists can rest before they launched the songs. If not, they gonna stay all day long till morning to see how their song goes on chart

To be fair, it isn't the "idol groups" who are to "blame" (since people are really keen on pinning the blame on a single entity) for this seemingly sudden change. Some (or most) of these idol worshipping netizens should be blaming themselves, for "abusing" the system so much that these streaming services/companies and Korea's Ministry of Culture were forced to act against it. I'm sure they'd rather not exert any work on changing their current system and charting algorithm, which costs money to execute, but they're forced to.

acargar Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Truthfully, i dont really care about this all-kill thingy. I know who i'm supporting and how worthy they are. They're a very talented group who can sing, rap, dance and entertain. So no matter where they are in the charts or even they're not in it, i will always love them unconditionally! 😄

acargar Wednesday, February 15, 2017

I love my BTS!!!

LveKimTae acargar Wednesday, February 15, 2017

same! army 4 life :)

gilmore1111111 Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Wouldn't they just release their songs at noon again?  which means more of the fandom will be awake at that time, All kills will still be achievable if not easier since the public will notice the popularity of the song on charts as well.

Sacredproz gilmore1111111 Wednesday, February 15, 2017

It is not easier when you have to compete against the already top songs of that period, especially against PAK songs

gilmore1111111 Sacredproz Wednesday, February 15, 2017

This seems to be only effecting boy band fandoms as i notice they always chart much higher during off peak hours, while girl groups are the opposite.. ie chart well during peak hours. I guess that is fair since some of the boy bands are winning shows souly based on off peak and album sales.

velapati Wednesday, February 15, 2017

is that because of bts and twice?😂

twinklefairy velapati Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Yes i. Think so. And the funny thing is they have only decided to change it now that bts and twice are coming.

whyamihereagain twinklefairy Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Well, actually, those companies have received warnings to have the charting system reformed from Korea's Ministry of Culture since last year and have been on the process of changing it since then. (Information quoted on other articles that AllKpop omits just because that's how they are.) So it wasn't just because your precious BTS and Twice are making comebacks. It's been a thing since last year, just happened to have come to its fruition this time of the year too.

Sacredproz velapati Wednesday, February 15, 2017

not twice, but yes to bts. Twice has always been strong on the chart and stay there for long. This change wont affect them much they can still easily make it to the top in the afternoon. Boy groups on the other hand is the main trigger to this change as their digitals isnt supposed to be this strong.

velapati Sacredproz Wednesday, February 15, 2017

Ya now that i see armies and exo-ls doing their best on charts i understand. The chart changes completely when its midnight😂
