According to reports, BoA and Joo Won met through similar acquaintances, and got to know each other fairly quickly due to their similar interests, in hobbies like golfing and hiking. But netizens also began to discuss the fact that the two are also close friends with TVXQ's Yunho! 

BoA has been friends with Yunho for 10 years, being SM Enertainment family together, and even visited Yunho in the military, updating fans on his welfare via SNS. In one interview, Joo Won also mentioned close friend Yunho, saying, "Yunho hyung gave me a call when he came out [of the military] for a vacation. He is the sangnamja (tough guy) style, and I remember before enlisting, he sent me a video of him getting his head shaved."
