Former 4minute member Sohyun posed for 'International bnt' and partook in the interview!

SEE ALSO: Former 4minute member Sohyun is already looking for a new label

In the interview, she talked about going from a group member to a soloist. Sohyun said, "The biggest and hardest change for me was making decisions by myself and taking responsibility because I'll be promoting solo now rather than in a group, which is all that I had done.  Now that the time has come for me to make decisions and go about it alone, I am worried and happy and also regretful."

Regarding the 7-year girl group jinx, Sohyun said, "It's not only that we all had different thoughts but also that there was a problem with the agency, so it's right for everybody to make a decision for him or herself, but there are also regrettable aspects to it.  It was like that for me.  Unlike the earlier stage [of our careers], I thought of myself first and then the group second.  Originally, the team was first.  But I think what hurts more is that it isn't wrong of me to do so."

As she spent a lot of time on stage, she was asked if she had any regrets about the stage, as her plans involve acting for now. Sohyun said, "It'd be a lie to say that there were no regrets about the stage. Sometimes, while walking on the streets, I'd hear our song or I'd meet up with friends or meet people and when they'd recognize me, they'd say 4minute.  There are lots of regrets, but I'm trying to think of all the good memories.  About standing on stage again, I think I'll have to mull over it more when I get the chance later. For now, I plan to show myself as an actress, but I do think there's a chance."

i think a lot of people are caught up on the fact that hyuna stayed with cube or there was bad management or bad promoting, things like that. and maybe those are partially factors in the disbandment yes, but i think its also just time? like sohyun said. it was probably great for seven plus years they were together. and they're like family, but at one point you might want to try new things and in a kpop group under a company it can be pretty hard sometimes. especially if that company is not doing so well. and i like how she said that they have to think of themselves over the group unlike the past. that honestly makes so much sense to me. like you love each other but you've already been a group for so long and now its time to think about acting, modeling, solos, even marriage, etc. at the end of the day its about the future and yourself and what will happen to you. anyway, idk. i just feel like i miss 4minute a lot but im glad they seem to be doing what they like and choosing their own ways in life. and they all found agencies which is great. plus to see them still supporting one another and enjoying their memories of being as 4minute is really wonderful. i love all the girls so much and sohyun is so precious~ best of luck to all of them. i know ill always be a 4nia. (lol sorry this post just got long and a bit too dramatic. but yeah, i just feel like there arent many true 4nias left that still love all of them and believe in their bond and what not so :/ its sad) hope to see more from sohyun bae tho <3333

It's not really a 7-year jinx. It's just that most standard contracts last seven years, so around that time groups that have lasted that long have the first time to think about their options. And seven years is a long time for a group, so it's no wonder that most groups decide to part ways at that point, rather than continue. When a group has been together for seven years, the members have grown a lot and are therefore a lot different than in their late teens, early 20s. So many want to try their own wings at that point. All groups will come to an end at some point, and the longer they last, the bigger is the possibility that they will end. And seven years just seems to be sort of the average age for how long many of them last, if they have solid careers, and the contractual 7-year deal has a lot to do with it. Most groups of course break up before that simply because they don't do well. If the standard contract period was five, six or eight years, we might be talking about the five, six or eight-year jinx.

She's still young, she should regroup herself to form a new group

"I thought of myself first and then the group second.  Originally, the team was first.  But I think what hurts more is that it isn't wrong of me to do so." That's such an honest answer and a really strong and good way to look at it, I'm very glad she's putting her well being above an image that was created for her.

Liked the part where she says there's a chance for being on stage sometime. Love Jiyoon and Sohyun and was hoping she'd be doing solo releases. Maybe in time :} Hell. Loved all of em except Hyuna. She always annoyed me more then anything.

If only...

MoriyaGXP Monday, January 2, 2017

Cube only value Hyuna as the money marker.

NORM Monday, January 2, 2017

Such a really nice answer :') Goodluck Sohyun-ah p.s: basically still confirming that CUBE has some shitty people in management as well -_-

Lea10042016 NORM Tuesday, January 3, 2017

Cube is just a mid-tier companies, they're not that powerful to support all members in a group in their solo activities. In that sense, all companies that let their artists go after their contracts expired have some shitty people in management? That applies to almost all agencies then?

Lea10042016 Tuesday, January 3, 2017

*a mid-tier company

aldebaran Monday, January 2, 2017

is not a jinx, is the end of a contract, girls asking for more money (that they deserve) and agencies making numbers and thinking if that is more profitable to renew or let them go and promote a junior more cheaper group for other 7 years.

krell aldebaran Monday, January 2, 2017

Yes, CUBE Agency did kind of 'cherry pick' HYUNA as the 'Big Fish' of 4MINUTE. And as you noted, CUBE can choose to promote a *new* Group at a lower cost. CUBE Agency is in business to *maximize* their profits. That would be a different goal than making *all* their K-pop Idols happy.

krell aldebaran Monday, January 2, 2017

Seven (7) Years is a fairly nice LONG RUN for a K-pop Group. NOT sure that 4MINUTE members have any real 'beefs' coming. Except one could *wish* that CUBE Agency had given 4MINUTE say 2 more years.

aldebaran krell Monday, January 2, 2017

True, all agencies are in business to maximize their profits, someones can make it, someothers can't, 7 and 5 years are kinda the standard contract lenght, usually boys have 7 because of the 2 years lost with the military service. But there aren't many groups that have done more than 2 or 3 contract renews, usually are the really really successfull groups like snsd and big bang, probably exo will too. 2ne1 disbanded after reject their 3 renew if im correct, also yg already have blackpink, i think miss A will have the same faith, now that twice is a big success and also a posible new girl group with somi

krell aldebaran Monday, January 2, 2017

Yes, with MISS A Group, my idea is to ADD SOMI (IOI) as New 4th Member and to ONE LAST FAREWELL TOUR (along with MV for it). Which, NOT really sure that say SUZY even wants to do that.

aldebaran krell Monday, January 2, 2017

lol your idea is nice, but in practice is really not good, because then after the tour, the group disband and you will have somi alone again (like dsp adding youngji to kara, now they don't know what to do with her) JYP will try to retain suzy (but not at all cost) and let the other go, and put somi as the head of a new girl group (maybe with 3 or 4 members, something not too big as twice)

krell aldebaran Monday, January 2, 2017

Yes, my view, SOMI does the FAREWELL MISS A Tour. Then, 'moves on' with INCREASED popularity to say a Sub-Group (4 members) of TWICE Group. Something along those lines.

i wish for Sohyun to be successful in whatever endeavor she pursuits.
