The site does provide a disclaimer saying that the information shown may not be completely accurate. The information shown for all of the below entertainment companies has been updated September of 2016. Many fans noted how rumors saying entertainment company salaries tend to be low for the work they do, turned out to be true. Others also began calling companies whose employee numbers could not compete with the numbers in the big 3 labels (SM, YG, JYP) as "crews", not companies.

The estimated number of employees within SM Entertainment is 414. (This number is expected to have excluded label artists.) The average annual income of an employee in the company is 36,400,000 KR₩ (~ 31,000 USD), and the average annual income of an employee hired in 2016 is 29,810,000 KR₩ (~ 25,400 USD).

The estimated number of employees within JYP Entertainment is 124. (This number is expected to have excluded label artists.) Can I work for big hit?? Would love to be able to touch BTS everyday and see them everyday I don't care what I have to do or how much I get paid 😄

chanyeolisbae867 Tuesday, November 22, 2016

Damn you get more than average in SM but the work is probably the strictest considering how idols are treated.

I don't like articles like this. It's very misleading. These are AVERAGES!! It'd be better if we saw median salaries. With this you can have some making $40,000 a year and some making only 15,000 (part time worker/intern) to make a $27,000 average. They should break it down more and have something more than an average, because not everyone will have the same salary and there are interns and part-time.

No, I know the difference between mean and median. For what I've learned, look at the average is a great way to trick people into seeing something that isn't necessary true. By showing the average people (as seen in the comments) will think that everyone is getting paid in the $20,000 which isn't true. The example I gave was the average. The median and average won't always be the same. For example my physiology class recently had a class average of 91% but a median of 94%. To be honest I'd rather see the mode to see what majority of the people are making. "Statistics" like this are just an easy way to sway people into think something is better or worse than it actually is. That is the point that I was trying to display.

the national avg. salary is about 3.2 million krw so sm & yg pays above the avg. and jyp is around the avg. cube is struggling so can't afford to pay more. where's fnc? i would think they're bigger than cube.

I wonder if these stated salaries are low or high in relation to living expenses. It'd be nice to know in order to avoid accidental comparison with one's home country's customs.

xiamarananjyp Tuesday, November 22, 2016

I would work for free, just let me work for my idols in JYP. :">> jk.

Nellie101 xiamarananjyp Wednesday, November 23, 2016

Me too!

hiroonakamura Tuesday, November 22, 2016

damn the wages are so shit! My kid sister worked as a customer service worker last year on her sabbatical year and earned as much as the average yearly salary is at SM.

samael hiroonakamura Tuesday, November 22, 2016

did she work in korea??? cause if she didnt, you cant really compare em.

megamanx Tuesday, November 22, 2016

In Korea, the taxes are much lower than say the USA. You pay 10-15% taxes, in USA you pay 30% - 40% and also state taxes (additional 6% or more, 0% in Florida and a couple other states). You get free healthcare and don't have to pay for insurance. It evens out in the end.

inbangtanfires Tuesday, November 22, 2016

I don't care about the salaries. Being able to see my bias group everyday is already a bless

hiroonakamura inbangtanfires Tuesday, November 22, 2016

you dont. most of the employees dont hang out with or see idols at all. It's like a normal company - do you really see everyone? of course not. not at a huge company

inbangtanfires hiroonakamura Tuesday, November 22, 2016

well, I will most probably be able to meet them in the company gathering or smtg like that.

sonelflee Tuesday, November 22, 2016

salaries are pretty low ^^
