According to a June 16 report by Yonhap News, the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) announced that their decision to forbid Park Tae Hwan from participating in the 2016 Summer Olympics will stand.
KOC's director Han Jong Hee reportedly stated, "Our aim in establishing the parameters for selecting the national team's representatives is [for the athletes] to maintain a tall order of morality and a level of dignity as public figures. Using performance enhancing drugs clashes with the very fundamental virtues of a fair play mentality and requires a severe penalty and serves as a way to educate the younger athletes."
The KOC plan to submit their decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Park Tae Hwan also intends to follow through with arbitration procedures at CAS to dispute KOC's decision. Meanwhile, Park Tae Hwan is currently training in Australia.
