2AM's Jinwoon talked about his past frustrations with his former agency, JYP Entertainment.

Jinwoon signed with Mystic Entertainment this past April, and it seems the change in agency is what led to the starkly different concept of his recent comeback with "Will" than what we're used to from the singer. At the recent showcase for his comeback, the 2AM member expressed, "I heard 'no' 99% of the time [while I was at JYP and Big Hit Entertainment.] Everything wasn't denied. With Big Hit, I was able to release the album 'You Walking Towards Me'."

He continued, "I really changed my music. After wondering how I can appeal to listeners, I came up with my music now. Before, I would do songs I could sing with an acoustic guitar, but now that's changed. Firstly, it was stressful to get permission and finish a song. It's because I couldn't just show my passion, but I had to show everything. I worried what would happen if things went wrong. I was stressed out every day."

What was your response to Jinwoon's new song "Will"?

It really is hard for soloists in companies with lots of idol groups Dx

daFoolio Friday, June 10, 2016

JYP has been having a mass exodus of artists.....

jypnloves Friday, June 10, 2016

i'm forever JYPstan...but need to admit that if they want to shine more with their color they need to split ways...whatever it is JYPstan like me will still support them!!

Miriyam Friday, June 10, 2016

Jinwoon's passion is actually rock, I heard or read somewhere, I forgot. He act in Dream High 2 as a rockstar too. So it's the opposite with 2AM as ballad group. Of course he was frustration, but it was his fault too, why did he debut under 2AM if he wanted to do rock. Releasing solo album is not easy in JYP, 2PM Junho or Jun K stated that you have to pass about 30 or 40 people. So it was not easy to release a solo album under JYP.

ilikeJB Miriyam Friday, June 10, 2016

AKP reports a lot of error here. In the showcase, he basically said he was told no a lot from producers before because he wasn't pushing hard enough and solos aren't easy. He never specify Big Hit or JYP, plus the solo he released before was under both JYP and Big Hit. If anything since 2am is under Big Hit for 4 years, I believe Bang Sihyuk rejected Jinwoon's songs more than Park Jinyoung ever did or could. Logic says that.

Miriyam ilikeJB Friday, June 10, 2016

Yes indeed, you cant trust what you read, especially this allkpop article.

ajshawol1990 Friday, June 10, 2016

I feel sorry that 2AM broke up!

ajshawol1990 Friday, June 10, 2016

They did right?

ilikeJB ajshawol1990 Friday, June 10, 2016

The didn't. JYP assured that 2am is still a group. The members still refer themselves as 2am.

ajshawol1990 ilikeJB Friday, June 10, 2016

Then Jinwoon left the group, but they'll promote as a three member group?

ilikeJB ajshawol1990 Friday, June 10, 2016

Nobody left the group. 3 of the members decided to leave JYPE but JYPE and the members assured fans that 2am didn't disband even under separate company.

Miriyam ajshawol1990 Friday, June 10, 2016

If 2AM broke up, this article would not put 2AM in front of Jinwoon name, but would put "former 2AM member" instead.

ajshawol1990 ilikeJB Friday, June 10, 2016

Oh! Ok! cool Good they didn't disband.

talk back

big_kpop_lovers Thursday, June 9, 2016

why the title make me worried about 2am =(

ilikeJB big_kpop_lovers Friday, June 10, 2016

The title is nonsense. Go to Jinwoon's IG, 2am is still in a very good relationship with both JYP and Big Hit.

big_kpop_lovers ilikeJB Friday, June 10, 2016

i knew it *wink of course we cannot just believe akp right ^^?

Miriyam big_kpop_lovers Friday, June 10, 2016

The title is really misleading people.

pandaleee Thursday, June 9, 2016

hmmm... just wondering if he expects Big Hit will keep releasing songs that don't do well (IF it doesn't do well)... don't think he can pinpoint JYP and think that only JYP does that... sure it'd be great if Big Hit is really different and lets him release all he wants, but just saying, both JYP and Big Hit are companies that do business, and i really doubt he's gonna be allowed to do whatever he wants if it doesn't make up for the expenses they spend on it

ilikeJB pandaleee Friday, June 10, 2016

He didn't point at any company. AKP did. Plus, his last Solo was released by both JYPE and Big Hit. He basically just said before this solo, he was rejected a lot and said that solos aren't as easy as it seems, that's all.

hiroonakamura Thursday, June 9, 2016

despite all that's good with kpop, there is always a downside to it. Artists being nothing more than puppets is not a good thing. Instead of producing artists, kpop agencies need to sign real groups and Artists that created themselves.

shekilledit Thursday, June 9, 2016

It's understandable though. Every company, especially the Big 3 has its own special color that stand-out. You won't expect YG releasing a GFriend concept because that's just not YG.

amyisafsd shekilledit Thursday, June 9, 2016

I disagree. Yg and jyp do have a certain type but sm doesn't. Look at the difference between snsd's gee and you think. Poles apart. SM does all kinds of concepts. You can totally expect a gfriend from them and you can expect rock from them as well. (they have a rock band called TRAX under sm)

shekilledit amyisafsd Thursday, June 9, 2016

No, i still thinks there's a distinct color to SM. SM, in my opinion, is the straight-out-of-book definition of k-pop. Base on examples your listed, it seems like those "different style" aren't as successful as their usual 'Gee' style.

Winston amyisafsd Thursday, June 9, 2016

SM seems to avoid the "strong" concepts like 4Minute's Crazy, of 2NEL's I Hate You, Their idea of "strong" is merely things like Run Devil Run or You Think, which are not really "strong". i remember during KPOP Star Season 2, the judges remarked that when they picked contestants to go to either JYP, SM or YG to train, the result is that contestant will come out looking different and like SM-style or JYP style or YG-style. LIke when BoA took Bang YeDam, and she gave him a new look, and he sang Justin Bieber's Baby, JYP said he would not have imagined Yedam could be like that if he was the one who brought him to JYP, he would not have discovered this "side" of bang yedam

ilikeJB amyisafsd Friday, June 10, 2016

The fact that SM continuously use the same type of producers just like YG and JYP means they have a type. It is the reason why SM brought out SM Station.

amyisafsd shekilledit Friday, June 10, 2016

Well I didn't know you were talking bout success. I simply said that you can expect different concepts from SM. I never said all of their concepts are successful.

amyisafsd Winston Friday, June 10, 2016

Well how about EXO's monster or TVXQ's catch me? If you're only looking at GG then obviously they avoid too strong/sexy concepts cause they're staying true to the image that got them fame with Gee.

shekilledit amyisafsd Friday, June 10, 2016

Mm, not necessary just success. But my point is that every company, including SM, has it own distinct style that people stereotype by. If you look at the Big 3 itself, the color between SM and YG is almost hell and heaven (this is to emphasize the gap, nothing more nothing less). While JYP is really in between them, they have a mix of little YG and a little SM.
