New MBC drama 'Lucky Romance' recorded the highest viewership ratings out of all the dramas of its airing time with its premiere episode; however, it also received a great amount of negative feedback from viewers.

According to Nielson Korea, the first episode of 'Lucky Romance' aired on May 25 received the highest ratings for a currently airing Wednesday-Tuesday drama with 10.3%. SBS drama 'Ddanddara' took second place with 7.5%, and then KBS 2TV's 'Master: God of Noodles' followed with 6.8%.

'Lucky Romance' seems to be off to a good start in ratings, but ironically, viewer response to the first episode is quite negative. Netizens claimed that Hwang Jung Eum's character is nothing new, but rather all too similar to her former roles in other dramas such as 'She Was Pretty', and 'Kill Me Heal Me'.

In addition, the plot evidently sports an "obvious story line", and the actors have also been targeted for lacking chemistry. Comments stated, "Um.. Maybe my expectations were too high..", "Not good at all. The characters just don't go along well with one another", "Tired of seeing Hwang Jung Eum's same old character. There is no impact", etc.

On the contrary some viewers said, "It is a lot different than the original webtoon, but it's only the first episode. It wasn't that terrible. I think it will get better", "Let's give it some time", "It's fun. Not too bad", and more.

What are your thoughts on 'Lucky Romance' so far?

I've watched all 4 episodes available to me, and I can't get enough! I loved She Was Pretty and when I heard that Hwang Jung Eum and Lee Soo-hyuk were going to be in Lucky Romance I just had to watch it! It's my first time ever watching Ryu Joon Yeol and before this I had never heard of him. I think he suites his character. I can only imagine the effort he has to put in to act out being a genius. I wasn't suprised when the show received a lot of negative criticism from KNETZ. They always have something to say. The romance isn't your "everyday" romance, but some how Hwang Jung Eum brings it down to Earth. I can't understand why KNETZ are complaining about the show being predictable. I think that's the fun. You know that they will be together, but it's more fun to focus on the journey of them falling in love. Plus, not every romantic + comedic drama can be like Discovery of Romance. Y'all know what I'm talking about.

I agree with the fact that Hwang Jung Eum is not doing something new, but it's not like she always does the same character. The development of the drama is predictable... Of course, is a Rom-Com in dramaworld... It's gonna be predictable. I think it's fresh and funny. I like her and I sure LOVE Ryu Jun Yeol. I think he's doing an amazing job. I think they DO hace chemistry. And you don't have to watch the drama to know it because:1. She ALWAYS has chemistry with the actors she works with and...2. The chemistry in the photoshoot they did before the drama started was explosive. So, K-netz, GET A LIFE!

actually, I don't really like the 1st episode...there is no impact...but, its okay, I think they try to give detail about the story ... especially, Bo Nui' 2nd apisode, and getting better and better :))) P.s: come to watch this drama for Ryu Jun Yeol...but, fall in love with Gary, Soo Hyuk's character!!! He is too precious and cute XD

Like this comment "obvious story line" of f****** course it's a an obvious storyline wth lol every. romantic. comedy. drama is obvious. guy/girl dont like each other, a certain event pulls them together, after bickering back in forth they come to like each other then misunderstandings arise a love triangle ensues then after a couple of filler eps the magic kiss then optional hit by the white truck of death, amnesia, of parents disown you. then time lapse (optional 1 year later, 2 or 5) then a passionate hug instead of  kiss an drama ends *camera pans out*

K-netz are so flaky. One minute they'll say this is terrible and boring then by 4 and 5 OMG this so fun i love this lolololol -____- . You can dislike something that so fine but don't just drop something due to 2 episodes. An I know a lot of yall commenters r heavily influenced by these k-net reviews -__- like watch it for yourself b4 u judge

I kiiiind of agree. But not completely. For example, unlike knetz, I don't find the story-line too obvious. (unlike some previous popular dramas like The Heirs, DOTS, etc.) I do agree about the chemistry between the actors/actresses. The only chemistry I did like was between Lee Soo Hyuk and Hwang Jung Eum, but how should I say it.. there wasn't even interaction between them? lol The main actor, Ryu Jun Yeol, does have potential but for some reason him and Hwang Jung Eum feel so out of element together, however, I feel like it will change in the upcoming episodes. I will definitely keep an eye on this drama and it actually keeps me intrigued.

seriously how can they already call it 'negative' when its only the first episodes they saw?? I bet they'll say like 'omg sooo beautiful draammaa' when it'll have more episodes like ddandara... calm the fuck pple and enjoy without complaining all the time

Somehow, the main actor is kinda making me a bit uninterested. I have a feel that this drama is gonna be not as good as the ones she played with Jisung or Park Seo Joon.
