On his recent appearance on MBC FM4U 'Kim Shin Young's Noon Song of Hope', actor Cha Tae Hyun talked about the popularity of the various hallyu stars.
DJ Kim Shin Young asked, "Who is more popular in China; Kim Jong Kook or Victoria?" Cha Tae Hyun responded, "Victoria is a national star, and Kim Jong Kook and Lee Kwang Soo are more like international stars. I think Victoria is more popular than Jong Kook."

He then continued to talk about his close friend, and jokingly said, "Jong Kook is only momentarily a star because of Kwang Soo, and for Kwang Soo, it's like this is his one and only chance. He might not be a star without [China]. That's why I always tell Kwang Soo that he really needs to be there."
