Red Velvet's Yeri encountered sexual and hate comments during live broadcast?

Red Velvet, Yeri

SM's rookie girl group Red Velvet may have encountered some hate recently... Unfortunately, while the girls were having fun communicating with their fans live through the'V' app, a few netizens left traumatizing comments through the live chatting portion of the show, targeting Yeri.

The girls were talking real-time with their fans on September 13, introducing the point moves in their "Dumb Dumb" choreography and more, for about 32 minutes. This resulted in 200,000 comments! But not all of them were good...

A portion of netizens started to target Yeri, leaving malicious comments - especially horrendous because they were left in real-time with the members reading them and having to maintain their faces due to the live broadcast.

These netizens left not only disparaging but also sexual remarks. One example of malicious content is,"Yeri, you XX, don't push yourself forward too much before I put a knife in your XX." The other netizens, upon seeing these comments, showed their concern by advising people to not go overboard considering she was only 17 years old.

Another netizen, 'A', captured the mean comment and posted it online with the intention of appealing to the public. 'A' wrote, "After this post came up, Yeri's expression hardened completely and she wouldn't even talk. I think Yeri saw this post. When she was doing the choreography practice, her voice sounded like she was purposely holding back tears. Please think again before posting something like this. Please also remember that she's not a celebrity but an ordinary female student in freshman year of high school."

Meanwhile, Yeri joined the group as a new member back in March to make it a five member group.

I want to make a change and no longer allow cyber-bullying to take place on the internet. I know my single voice is small and cannot do much but it others join in then I know a positive change for the future can be made. Let’s do it together.
