Hwayoung personally asked for the intense kiss scene in 'Ex-Girlfriend Club'?

Hwayoung

Actress Hwayoung met up with Newsen recently to talk about her latest drama, tvN's 'Ex-Girlfriend Club,' particularly the intense kiss scene she had in it as the character Rara.

She was asked what she found most memorable from the drama and she said the kiss scene, causing laughter. She continued, "The most memorable part that remains in my mind is the kiss scene. I was not embarrassed by it at all. It's acting, anyway." Hwayoung added that she actually personally considered doing a more intense kiss in order to flashily portray Rara's character upon her first appearance.

She revealed she was as confident and playful as Rara. "I thought that Rara had to come out showy from her first appearance," Hwayoung explained. "I came to think that it matched Rara's image better to do a more intense kiss scene than the norm, like a picture from overseas. I told the director that I should do it more strongly."

She also mentioned her weak angle while promoting as a former member of T-ara. She said, "When I was a singer, my ankle injury was an honorable one. In my kiss scene, I had to turn Byun Yo Han around and kiss him strongly, and he was too heavy for me. I hurt my ankle because I turned him around too hard, but I'm still getting treatment, so it's okay," and smiled.

She also revealed that she and the director had different images of the character, Rara. "The Rara I constructed and the Rara the director constructed were different. What the director thought of was very different from what I thought when I was acting. During the process of tuning up our viewpoints, the director listened to my perspective a lot. I likewise believed in the director and followed him," said Hwayoung.

Lastly, she updated on her life by revealing she was currently immersed in boxing and preparing for her next work. She said she wanted to try out an action genre next time, saying, "It's been two months since I learned boxing. Boxing provides a firm body and trained mind, so I want to do action like Jun Ji Hyun did in 'Thieves.'"
