Meet criminal 'A,' whose heart-wrenching reunion with his mother after thirty years turned on the waterworks at a Suwon Police Station.
On April 30, Mr. 'A' was arrested under charges of theft and brought into Suwon's South District Police Station. While under investigation, 'A' told the police officer of his destitute, penurious childhood.

Because of his family's extreme financial hardships, 'A' had to work as a delivery person ever since he was an elementary school student. To make matters even worse, 'A's father passed away early and 'A' was unexpectedly separated from his mother. 'A' desperately searched everywhere for his mother but wasn't able to locate her whereabouts. Now it's been nearly thirty years since 'A' has lived a secluded life, with the ever-present loneliness as his only companion.
The police officers, who took pity on 'A,' searched far and wide for his mother and was finally able to contact her. Unfortunately, due to being a cancer patient, 'A's mother couldn't travel to meet her son in person; however, 'A' managed to see his mother's face and speak with her through a video call.
Seeing her son after three decades, the mother called out "My baby, my baby," and was unable to contain her tears. 'A,' with his voice choked up by emotion, replied, "Mom, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that you have to see me like this," dropping his head in shame. To her son's apologetic words the mother consoled, "Don' be sorry. I should be the one who's sorry."
'A,' who could hardly hide his concern for his sick mother, hung up after promising, "I will lead a morally upright life once I'm out of prison."
'A's tear-jerking reunion story, which was uploaded on Gyeonggi Province National Police's official Facebook page, is warming the hearts of all and sundry.
