The trio who were usually praised for their pretty boy looks, underwent the public's scrutiny for their pre-debut photos. SS501's leader, Hyun Joong, whose pre-debut photos have been revealed before, has received applause for his natural, untouched face. As opposed to his drastic change from his earlier days, Hyun Joong exhibits maturity through defined features that are still recognizable now. Youngsaeng also received a positive response for his black hair and sharp stare, earning him comparisons to a popular character from Japanese manga "Slam Dunk." The two members from SS501 mentioned above may have breezed past safely from netizens' wrath, but Kyujong was not so fortunate. Taken during his high school, Kyujong's picture reveals his strong and tough charisma that may have otherwise been unseen before. Netizens have commented, "His face changed."
