B.A.P is rolling into your town with their newest release 'Carnival.' Not only figuratively but also literally, as they are launching their 'Live on Earth 2016' tour, which will take them to 15 countries. The concept for this album is the sun returning and the fun of Spring, which shows in these six tracks.
The album kicks off with the bombastic "Today," an intro track that alternates between smooth and loud, and vocals ranging from high tenor to deep basso. It's actually a powerful intro, but I don't think it reflects the tone that well.
The track that makes me think this is "Carnival," a bright, fun song that is a hybrid of ska and swing with rowdy horns, all done k-pop style. The song is a definite contrast to "Today," which has more in common with the tracks on 'Matrix.' "Carnival" is still a great song though, all about traveling and having a good time.
The good times don't stop with "Feel So Good." The title track is an upbeat, peppy tune about how being around her makes them "feel so good." It's funky and retro, brilliant and body-moving, and a lot of catchy, crank-up-your-stereo fun. As I'm not a great fan of retro, I didn't expect to like this song as much as I did.
The next song is "Go," a mid-tempo cheery song, with some interesting buried echo effects and primarily a guitar as instrumentation, but you have a pipe-y synth going as well. I like the chord progression here, where it gets more and more exciting. Awesome build to the chorus, even if the hook is more the "whooaa" than anything else. The song is about how they feel just being with the girl. Where are they going? Crazy.
"Albatross" is frantic and rapid fire, the lyrics coming fast and powerful. It's a good rocker about being able to fly and chase your dreams. It's amusing, because an albatross is actually the opposite symbol in the West, but whatever. It's still a great song. Catchy, great hooks, and some definite foot-stomping goodness here.� �
"My Girl" is all about how the girl is their "shining star." It's a soft rock number, done to an acoustic guitar, and there's a warm, easy confidence that keeps it all together. It has some sounds akin to 1D as well, with the smooth vocals from the boys giving this song its softness along with some electric guitar crunch during the chorus. It's a great closer. �
I'll admit I had a bit of misgivings about this before I gave it a spin. I remembered the power that 'Matrix' had, that edginess that put B.A.P on my radar. Every song on here is the polar opposite of what's on 'Matrix,' and I have to admit, they killed it. Color me impressed. This EP is a celebration of love and happiness and fun, and in that, it works.

And that's really what they do. They tool around in shopping carts, dance wildly, ogle girls, engage in tailor shop tomfoolery, and show off their crazy charms. It all comes together to make an astonishingly fun MV.
The dancing here is pretty good. They know what they do, and they do it quite well. This is not a rookie band we're dealing with. I was impressed with their individual skills, as well as their ability to dance in sync. And the moves at 1:23 have to be seen to be believed. Here's a small part of it below:
The wardrobe ranges from cool to questionable. Cool: nice clean suit. Questionable: a powder-pink suit. Maybe it's my own failings, but the guys who wore pink at my school were unrepentant bad boys. To this day pink on a guy doesn't get a pass from me.

These guys look like they know how to have fun. And while it must have been grueling to put this together, the boys sport smiles throughout. It's a testament to their range that they can switch concepts at a drop of the hat. Now I can't wait to see what else they can do.�
