The said video footage shows a man walking up to a woman working at a POS counter in a supermarket and then proceeding to strike the side of her face. Shocked by the man's sudden burst of anger, the woman is unable to continue her job and walks away from her station.
The Facebook user who shared the video claimed that the man in the video is an employee of the supermarket, writing, "The man in the video has been touching my mom since a couple months back, and he would continue to touch her even when she told him to stop so she told the other workers about it, and that's when he blew up at her and started insulting and harassing her. The video is from June 1. He struck my mother like that, and as you saw in the clip, he followed her and continued hitting her in the employee resting area...My mother is currently under a lot of pain and her jaw bone is dislocated."
Meanwhile, Seoul Sinmun reported that Anyang Dongan Police Station have arrested the man, who was identified as a 37-year-old name Cho. According to Seoul Sinmun, as employees of the same supermarket, the perpetrator and victim were on good terms. However, Cho blew his lid one day when the woman allegedly dropped her honorifics toward him, leading him to hurl random objects at her and strike her face four times.
Police have booked Cho without detention and revealed that they recommended prosecution to charge him for a count of simple battery. Police further stated, "The victim didn't confess that the perpetrator sexually harassed her. We're planning to reinvestigate the case to find out whether she wasn't able to confess to any sexual assault [from Cho] because she was threatened or felt fearful [of repercussions]."
