Solar of MAMAMOO is set to showcase a new side of herself with the release of ‘Floating Free (Solar Ver.)’, a solo version of her Chinese-language single.
On July 1 at 1 PM KST, Solar shared the cover image of ‘Floating Free (Solar Ver.)’ via her official social media accounts, announcing the single’s release at midnight on July 4. The cover, featuring Solar’s wistful expression under a rainy cityscape, evokes a deep sense of emotion.
Originally released as a duet with Taiwanese indie singer-songwriter 9m88 on June 11, ‘Floating Free’ now returns as a solo rendition by Solar. Her clear and tender voice weaves over retro-style synthesizer waves, blurring the lines between dream and reality. The song has been praised for delivering authentic emotion that transcends borders and cultures through the universal language of music.
Upon the duet’s release, Solar saw explosive success in Taiwan—topping the iTunes Top Songs chart, KKBOX Top Trending Songs chart, and ranking #2 on YouTube Music’s trending videos. She also held a press conference attended by major local media, followed by a successful solo fan concert in Taiwan.
Notably, Solar conducted the entire fan concert without an interpreter, directly communicating with fans in Chinese from beginning to end—earning praise and admiration for her sincerity and dedication. Her solo version of ‘Floating Free’ is now drawing further attention as a milestone in her expanding global presence.
In addition to the digital release, ‘Floating Free (Solar Ver.)’ will also be available as a physical album starting July 4.
