That’s precisely the case for lyricist Oh Young, a longtime INSPIRIT (fan of K-pop group INFINITE), who achieved a dream she never imagined would come true. She’s officially credited as the lyricist for “Where U R” (Korean title: "We Are Always Beautiful"), one of the refreshing and emotional B-sides on INFINITE’s latest album, LIKE INFINITE.

Oh Young shared on Instagram that her journey as a lyricist began with her love for INFINITE. When her team was approached to write lyrics for INFINITE - a group that had sparked her creative journey—she admitted she could hardly believe it and was worried that her lyrics would not be chosen. However, she had nothing to fear, as her emotional lyrics, which capture the heart of INFINITE and INSPIRIT, were indeed chosen as the final lyrics.

The lyrics for “Where U Are” were born from years of cherished memories with the group. Oh Young revealed one particularly emotional moment that shaped the song during INFINITE’s LIMITED EDITION concert in Seoul last December. During the final remarks, member Woohyun shared,

"Even though as a team I want to be loved by a lot of people, we need to slowly step down while maintaining who we are."

Those words moved Oh Young to tears. But more than sadness, she felt pride in a group that continues to shine while staying true to themselves. That feeling became the inspiration for the song’s Korean title and main lyrics of the chorus, “We Are Always Beautiful,” which she penned as a response to Woohyun’s heartfelt sentiment.

Other lines, such as “Watching each other smile so brightly / You shine, you do”, were inspired by her feelings when INFINITE members lock eyes with their fans during concerts. The song opens with “We're facing each other,” a subtle yet touching reference to INFINITE’s song Between Me & You (Korean title: Standing Face to Face), creating a lyrical bridge between past and present.
