Singer IU has been chosen as Korea's representative for Billboard's Global No. 1 artist series, proving her influence on the global stage. Billboard praised IU, stating, “IU is irreplaceable” and explained, “While there are many individuals who excel as popular idols, talented musicians, actors, and hosts, IU is the only person who succeeds in all of these roles simultaneously.” They also highlighted her multigenerational fanbase and musical achievements.
Billboard analyzed IU's remarkable success this year. 'Love Wins All' topped the Melon Top 100 chart just one hour after its release, maintaining the weekly No. 1 spot for four consecutive weeks, claiming No. 1 on the February monthly chart, and achieving 339 perfect all-kills on iChart. IU also completed the largest world tour by a Korean female solo artist, drawing 500,000 fans across 31 shows in 12 countries.
IU expressed her gratitude, saying the recognition feels both unfamiliar and honorable. She is set to star in the Netflix series 'When life gives you tangerines' in 2025 and the MBC drama '21st Century Grand Prince's Wife (tentative title)'
