Nam Gyu Ri discusses her new release: 'No chance to sing for 13 years'

After a 13-year hiatus from the music scene, former SeeYa member and actress Nam Gyu-ri has made a heartfelt return with her new song 'HALO'.

On March 3rd, during a broadcast on KBS CoolFM's 'Park Myung Soo's Radio Show', DJ Park Myung Soo had a phone conversation with Nam Gyu-ri, sharing her recent endeavors and the story behind her long-awaited comeback.

Park introduced Nam Gyu-ri by singing SeeYa's hit song 'Shoes', reminiscing about the past. Nam shared her current focus on acting and expressed her longing to reconnect with Park, whom she befriended during their time on the variety show 'X-Man'. She fondly recalled listening to the radio frequently, enjoying Park's impersonation segments, and finding inspiration in his words.

Praising Nam's vocal talent, especially her memorable performance of 'Shoes', Park brought up the question of whether Nam missed singing during her time focusing on her acting career. Nam revealed, "I always wanted to sing. Opportunities to do so were scarce, so I ended up creating songs on my own, and after 13 years, I've finally managed to sing for my fans."

Park sympathized with Nam's hiatus from music, expressing joy for her return and the excitement of fans looking forward to her vocal performances. He humorously requested a 'follow back', adding to the light-hearted nature of their exchange.

Nam also shared a personal challenge she faced while pursuing her passion for music: developing carpal tunnel syndrome from playing the guitar. She explained, "I've been playing the guitar for about a year. Making music and singing to my niece led to my wrist condition, forcing me to take a break from playing."

Regarding her new single 'HALO', Nam described it as a song about shining a halo on each other, representing fans, lovers, friends, and many others. She confessed the song was created on the guitar, which she plans to continue learning at a gradual pace despite her wrist condition.

Nam Gyu-ri's digital single album 'HALO' was officially released on February 22nd, marking a significant moment for both the artist and her fans as she ventures back into the music world after over a decade.
