K-Drama Romantic Leads With Big Age Gaps

Has there ever been a moment when you were engrossed in a K-Drama and found yourself pausing to ponder over the significant age difference between the leading actors? This scenario is not as rare as one might think. The recent casting announcement of actor Go Soo and OH MY GIRL's Arin, who have a 21-year age gap, in a forthcoming K-Drama illustrates the frequency of this occurrence.

To shed some light on this, we have curated eight K-Dramas featuring notable age differences between the lead characters.

The Glory

This popular drama about Song Hye Kyo taking revenge on her high school bullies had people frowning at how she has a 14-year age difference from Lee Do Hyun

Eve

Another revenge drama was also criticized for the 12-year age gap between the two leads, Seo Ye Ji and Park Byung Eun.

Goblin

This drama might already have a huge age gap with how the male lead is a Goblin from the Goryeo dynasty, putting the two in a 920 years difference of age gap, but in real life too, the two have quite a gap in age, where Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun share an age gap of 12 years.

Mr. Sunshine

The character age gap isn't that big in the drama, but in real life, the actors, Lee Byung-hun and Kim Tae-ri, have a 20 years age gap.

I Hear Your Voice

This 2013 drama has 24-year-old Lee Jong Suk and 34-year-old Bo Young acting together as a high school student with a lawyer, respectively.

Something In The Rain

The real-life age gap between the two leads,  Son Ye-jin and Jung Hae-in, isn't huge, but in this drama, the supposedly big age gap is the major plot point, where it touches on the dating taboos of older women dating younger men.

In the drama part of the plot point as well, the two leads are supposed only to be 10 years, apart, but in real life, Im Soo Jung and Jang Ki Yong are 13 years apart!

18 Again

Okay, this one had to be part of the plot for the drama to be what it is, but technically... they're both the same age of 38, but the male lead is trapped in an 18-year-old's body. So, character-wise, we can somewhat argue that it's fine (if you know the circumstance, that is), but in real life, Kim Ha Neul and Lee Do Hyun have an age gap of 17 years!
