K-bands cover BTS hits on Mnet’s “Great Seoul Invasion”

Mnet’s brand-new band survival program “Great Seoul Invasion,” which airs every Wednesday at 9:40 PM KST, is back with a new episode featuring the “Global Music Chart Challenge” mission.

This mini-mission is based on choosing one of the BTS hit songs, “DNA” or “FAKE LOVE,” and making an arrangement that best represents each band’s signature style. Through this mission, a total of nine teams fought for their place in the third round, while only three of them got a chance to advance.

As a result of this mini-mission, W24, Hangronan, and PATZ gained a place in the third round, joining OWALLOIL, Band Nah, HeyMen, Yudabinband, TOUCHED, and D82, who previously won their place in the one-on-one battle.

SURL, Lacuna, and ONEWE were left in the so-called 'BAND POOL' to watch their rivals perform in the next round without being able to get on the stage themselves. The last three teams, South Club, MACGUFFIN (MGFF), and Walking After U, failed to maintain their spot in the show.

In particular, band SURL’s failure to proceed to the third round disappointed lots of fans and viewers. Some of the comments were saying, “SURL’s arrangement was on another level. They didn’t just cover BTS song, they made a new one,” followed by, “SURL made a song that sounds like SURL, they showed their own color. Isn’t that what this mission is about?”

Check out each band's performance below.

korean music is very diverse but rock seems to be less popular than other genres. I hope this shows brings more love to the genre, loved the last two groups especially
