YG new girl group will have 8-members broken into 2 units
YG has announced before that they plan on debuting their next girl group this year, which will be the first YG Girl Group since BlackPink in 2016
Some info has been spread early by Korean media outlets that the upcoming girl group will indeed be coming soon, that their name is “BabyMonsters” and that the number of members will be 8 in total
This girl group will be a multinational one consisting of Koreans, mixed Koreans, Japanese, and more
It’s said they’ll be 2 units with each having 4 members. It hasn’t been said what their units concept would be, but it is likely that their names will be “BaeMon ” and “BabyMon” according to trademarks that have been near finalization recently
If the rumor is true then it probably like this : BABYMONSTER/S as the group name, BABYMON and BAEMON as the name of the group units
Many fans have expected that YG would debut a 9 member girl group considering their admiration for SNSD & Twice, as well as the original plan to have BlackPink be 9 members before they officially debuted as 4.
But with the split unit concept + very few girl groups having 8 members, such as Lovelyz and Weki Meki, would make BabyMonsters stand out well
