How accurate is this? I would think Super Junior, TVXQ, SHINEE, Big Bang, Girls Generation would be on the list.

On the top it says 3rd generation groups, all of what you listed are considered 2nd generation groups.

If you look at the actual list there is a 2nd gen group in the mix.(*infinite*)

There is no clear and concise definition of what 2nd and 3rd generation waves are in kpop.

I guess in this case, Infinite would be a 3rd generation.

Stupid yes I know right, but definitions are only based on a case by case context.

For example the person could've said that 3rd generations are groups debuted in 2010 or after.

In this case Infinite would definitely fit the criteria but again the majority wouldn't follow this. It all depends on the writer's definition of 3rd generation group.

User got it from OneHallyu, and the OP there apparently has access to Hanteo. Accuracy-wise, I have no clue. You can compare the figures posted in the thread, but whether/not they copied it right... *shrug

Why is there a comments bringing up 2nd Gen as if they know don't know when the chart was established? They did count anything before the 3rd Generation got on a roll so stop bringing them up. The only group name close to making it on the list was the boy group that had the most sales pre EXO and that's SuJu. You can tell who got into K-pop yesterday.

Guys Korea have many music sites and charts like Ginne Haneto Gaon and many more big and small so when you put all figures that is whole lot of new ranking but pretty much top 10 will be same but sales will be higher like Exo with 10M Twice with 5 almost without Japan sales

It is not that, it is that the criteria of Hanteo to account for are different from those of Gaon. Officially they have sold 10M, but Hanteo counts differently. There are probably things that were not counted, the Chinese records, for example. Even Hanteo admitted that he did not count them last year, so...

The source that they linked to, at least from what I can see, doesn't even show the total sales of every album for the groups they've listed so I don't know how they got these numbers. But yeah like you said BTS are currently at 5.6 million, I don't know why they put 4.8?

This isn't not right. EXO still sold more albums that them outside this chart. Hanteo charts also started in 2010, so their sales didn't count on here. Hanteo just counts physical sales from that time period up.
