Chinese K-Pop Idols That Found Success in their Home Country

1. Jackson
Though Jackson was technically born in Hong Kong, he has a lot of pride in stating that he is Chinese. Given his outward expression of pride in his heritage and culture, many Chinese citizens have taken a liking to this charismatic and handsome idol! You can catch him featured in many Chinese programs- thank God for his talent in languages!
2. Hangeng
Hangeng's career started when he was a part of Super Junior. Later, he eventually became the leader for Super Junior-M three years after. Hangeng went on to be extremely well-received in his native home country of China for his contributions to the spread of Chinese culture! From being a torch-bearer during the Beijing Olympics to winning China's Most Popular Male Singer in 2010, Hangeng has reached new heights in Asia!
3. Kris
It goes without saying that leaving EXO may have been Kris Wu's smartest career move to date. After the lawsuit with SM Entertainment occurred, Kris found himself acting and integrating well into not only Chinese media, but Western media as well. Topping Forbes' list of top Chinese celebrities, Kris has performed with industry giants across the seven seas.
4. Jun
SEVENTEEN's Shenzen-born Jun is a nation favorite. Even when Jun was young he was a fairly well-known child actor. His versatility and energy is unique and the fact that he maintains a pure and innocent demeanor is a huge appeal for fans. Moreover, Jun is trained in Wushu martial arts, giving him even more popularity and coolness!
5. Fei
Miss A have two Chinese members: Fei and Jia, but among the Chinese nationals who love the group, the more beloved member seems to be Fei. Though Jia is lovely and talented, her swag doesn't resonate the same with audiences abroad the same way Fei's does. That being said, Fei's popularity in China has landed her a number of deals and bookings such as modeling deals or acting roles.
6. Lay
Lay is the only Chinese member of EXO that still remains in the band, yet he still is able to create a huge following and allocate time to promote individually when he is in his home country. Some netizens argue that Lay's popularity supersedes EXO's popularity in China. Lay has filmed movies with Jackie Chan, recorded solo songs, landed acting roles in popular dramas and serves as a variety king on a number of television shows!
7. Victoria
In China, Victoria sheds her image of K-Pop star and idol. Instead, she is an talented actress, a beautiful model, and a variety show persona. f(x)'s Victoria is one of China's most beloved K-Pop idols and has attained her fame as an A-list celebrity! Even Cha Tae Hyun spoke about how he noticed how popular Victoria was in China!
8. Tao
Kris and Luhan aren't the only ones to dominate the charts in China. After going solo, Tao released an EP and multiple music videos on top of that. Citing Jay Chou as a musical influence, he seemed to follow in his footsteps when he started his acting career. Tao starred in movies, dramas, and more- he was even voted as the top variety show personality in China!
9. Cheng Xiao
It doesn't take a super fan to notice that Cheng Xiao has been the center of interviews, magazine covers, and other media. Out of everyone in WJSN, Cheng Xiao gained her recognition after a stellar performance in an athletic championship.
10. Kyulkyung
This IOI member and 6th place contestant of 'Produce 101' is a Chinese superstar on the rise. Over the course of 'Produce 101', she received the nickname "China's Miracle" because she was a triple threat in terms of visuals, personality, and friendliness. Kyulkyung or Pinky serves as a mentor alongside Cheng Xiao and Jackson on a Chinese program similar to 'Produce 101'.
