Hong Hyun Hee's blackface comedy skit was met with great criticism from viewers following its broadcast on April 20.

Among the angered viewers was Sam Hammington. The Australian comedian called out Hong Hyun Hee on social media and stated, "Hong Hyun Hee appeared on 'People Searching For Laughter' disguised as a black person... So pathetic! How long are they going to continue this nonsensical act? Is it funny to make fun of a race? I'm embarrassed as a person who used to go on comedy programs!"
