The secret behind Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun's romantic dinner scene at a restaurant in Canada is revealed!

One of the most memorable scenes in the hit drama 'Goblin' takes place at a restaurant in Canada. However, on the February 14 episode of 'One Night of Entertainment', it's revealed that the scene was actually not filmed in Canada but in Korea!

According to the scene curator, the scene was filmed at Paju in Gyeonggi province. It's a cafe that was built to resemble a museum in London, and of course, now it has become a popular place to visit following the drama.

I'm not surprised, cos one of the restaurant extras was a non-koreans that lives in korea *cough* Carson *cough* I actually just thought it was a set,lol

The second photo is actually in Canada located in Quebec. It's the Chateau Frontenac...but who REALLY thought that they will film the restaurant scene in Canada like isn't it obvious that it's a studio.

To clarify the article the EXTERIOR of the hotel is in fact in Canada.  The INTERIORS are obviously a soundstage.  This is pretty much the case in 99% of the scenes you will see.  There's not 1 thing unusual or unexpected about the fact that the interiors were shot in Korea.  Same thing in DOTS etc... the exteriors are location shoots.  All the crap indoors is on a soundstage.  It's cheaper, and in the case of reshoots most of the dialogue heavy things are indoors for rewrites and changes as the show goes on (although now many are preshot).  The exterior stuff are usually action scenes and establishing shots which will generally NOT change even if the ending or other changes are made to the drama

The only part that flipped me about the Quebec parts is the foreigners talking in English. If they would've spoken French, it would've been amazing~

ed_levy mindlessdream Tuesday, February 14, 2017

people speak English in Quebec, even Quebecois with tourists. the main language is official language of Quebec with this generation (I think the movement basically goes back to the 70s). because of this only like 2% in Quebec only speak English. MOST of Quebec is bilingual, including Quebec City which is the capital

mindlessdream ed_levy Tuesday, February 14, 2017

Honestly, only Montreal is bilingual and only 50% of Montreal is. Quebec City is predominantly French speaking. I'm not saying all the parts should've been in French, but like little parts like the old man saying "Joyeux Noël" instead of Merry Christmas and all that. Of course, like the lady at the hotel and the lady selling the necklace speaking in English is normal since Quebecois have a tendency to speak in English to Asians. The two referendum made so many English people move away from the province of Quebec, and the reason why Montreal is so bilingual is mostly because of immigrants.

ladymisono mindlessdream Tuesday, February 14, 2017

True. I'm from Québec myself and Quebec City is definitively predominantly French speaking. We do learne english in school at a young age but in the end, not that many people are fluent and it's very rare that you'll find someone speaking english in the streets. That being said, it's true that where Goblin was filmed, it's a touristic spot you'll find more people speaking english there than in the rest of the city, mostly, in the shops with the tourists. It would have been a bit more realistic to have had more people speaking french in the scenes filmed in Quebec.
