Wow, you are really pissed off at this, huh?

Shiraa Wednesday, December 21, 2016

It would be interesting to compare this chart to one made by international fans. I think that Korean kpop fans and international kpop fans have a different taste in kpop music. EXO, BTS, Got7 BigBang and Red Velvet would probably be at the top.

kyss_ly Shiraa Wednesday, December 21, 2016

tbh twice wouldn't change from being at the top if it was made by international fans, it would be BIG BANG, BTS, EXO, GOT7, TWICE, BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN then RED VELVET.but the taste in music is really diverse.

Shiraa kyss_ly Wednesday, December 21, 2016

I don't know about Twice. Most kpop fans I know actually dislike Twice. I'm I a kpop facebook group with a couple thousand peeps and Twice is hardly ever mentioned. Buy I guess it also depends on the country. Also yes BP, they are very popular amongst international fans

ayoyo Shiraa Wednesday, December 21, 2016

Many international KPOP fans are jealous of Twice's success. Their favs can't make it as good as Twice.

Shiraa ayoyo Thursday, December 22, 2016

I hardly doubt that's the reason given that BTS, EXO and BigBang are loved by most international fans. It has more to do with their cute songs. I personally liked Twice when they debuted with Ooh-Ahh and I also had some of their non-popular songs on my phone, but I stopped listening to them because I got tired of their cute concept and lack of actual musical talent/artistry. Just my opinion

TWICElove Shiraa Thursday, December 22, 2016

Well, but twice did not bad in international, look their mv in youtube, the view is insane,

It would be interesting but not surprising... Kpop or Korean pop is tailor made for Koreans... the fact that it has gone global is a phenomenon... no Korean entertainment company ever tailored a group with the international market in mind... except maybe the Japanese or Chinese market which is pretty much like Korean tastes when it comes to concepts... so, international fans have to take whatever comes out of Korea... and since it is global the diversity of the people pretty much guarantees that every group will get a piece of the pie...

BigBlueagain pablo27 Saturday, January 7, 2017

We don't HAVE to "take" anything. The Hallyu wave wasn't just a "phenomenon". It was a carefully crafted export. More and more the groups with any staying power are dependent on the international market. Just the Korean market is too small, fickle, and unevolved to support any act for more than a few years. Less than that with how saturated it is now. Koreans thinking that their faves are going to last without us are delusional.

pablo27 BigBlueagain Saturday, January 7, 2017

You already are... that's why you're commenting here... I'm sure you know a lot about Kpop history... and I know that you know it's advent from the time of S.E.S., FinKL, and company... it was the internet that made them known... it was what paved the way for future GG's like SNSD and 2NE1... it was not carefully crafted... it was an unexpected bonus... nobody knew then that Kpop would have that mass appeal globally...that's why, till now, we have a slew of GG's holding on to the cute concept because this is what worked... the 1st gen idols were deemed successful because somehow the Korean flavor that they had appealed internationally... YG is one of the few exceptions but he did not make 2NE1 to cater to int'l fans... he made them with his color... and because the internet started getting better at that time it reached out to a diverse audience a lot of whom liked their kind of genre... Now he comes up with BlackPink, which is 2NE1 3.0, and slaughtered the int'l market... but BlackPink isn't the sexual, booty shakin', alluring group... They're fierce, kick ass performers who doesn't show that much skin which stays true to Korean values... YG had the luck of getting influenced by a music genre popular in the west and the vision to act on it... That's why I think BP is the strongest GG internationally...

BigBlueagain pablo27 Saturday, January 7, 2017

I didn't come to KPop until 2010. I learned about S.E.S. and the history after the fact. There's a reason that most of the songs in KPop have English in them. As of this moment, it is the international language for business and politics. There have been several articles interviewing more than a few government official's staff who have come right out and said that the 2nd generation was a planned export. You think that the leading cell phone manufacturer, THE most wired city in the world and the region that sponsors gamers like the rest of the world sponsors athletes is just a coincidence? Please. I have to agree with you on BP though. But I'll add K.A.R.D. to match them on the international stage. Groups like April, Apink, GFriend and TWICE have a limited appeal internationally outside of Japan and maybe China. But yet they are the ones that the shows always talk about. They don't sell that well internationally, but they do well for their brief time in the spotlight on the Korean stage.

BigBlueagain pablo27 Saturday, January 7, 2017

Honestly the ONLY one I'm seeing who gets as much love domestically as she does internationally is Taeyeon. She's in that sweet spot that seems to be attractive to both markets.

pablo27 BigBlueagain Saturday, January 7, 2017

Gfriend and Twice has a crazy amount of Int'l fans themselves... but because the genre that BP is on is more internationally appealing then yes, it's natural that they have a stronger following... I will not pit the groups against each other... the difference in styles would not permit that... even future planning would be different... BP would have to grow with their concept... Twice and Gfriend would have to grow out of it... BP will have all the time to perfect their genre while Twice will have to change concepts as they grow older... as for those government officials, I'm sorry but anything that smacks politics automatically nullifies any credibility for me... besides, I don't think they represent any entertainment company to spew out statements like that...however, as I said before... part of the appeal was being Korean... so no self respecting Korean company will change totally... The groundwork has been laid ever since 2NE1 and SNSD enjoyed immense success... and that's why they ended up with a saturated market... knowing the formula is only half... having the right material is the other half... that's why no group really blew up in the 2nd gen... BP and Twice has both...

pablo27 BigBlueagain Saturday, January 7, 2017

I think it's because a lot of people followed her during SNSD's early years and she kinda grew up before everybody's eyes... also, because she's a very good singer and crazy beautiful... and because when she matured, so did her songs... so she is the complete package ...

CHRISTINAMR Shiraa Friday, January 13, 2017

You forget to mention SNSD

That would be Big Bang.

hiroonakamura Wednesday, December 21, 2016

seems like the older people are in Korea, the better their taste in music is!

Nutelladela Wednesday, December 21, 2016

I'm so happy that JYP has found success with TWICE. He was really slowly starting to become irrelevant and fall out of the Big 3 because none of his groups were considered popular anymore (WG are doing great but we all know the market wants something new and fresh.) It's pretty cool that all of the OG Big 3 companies now have active and popular new girl groups.

BigBlueagain Nutelladela Saturday, January 7, 2017

2PM is still 80% of JYPE's bank. AFter that is Suzy. TWICE isn't even out of the red yet. If they're careful, the path they're on now with that group just might actually show a profit before they fade.
