EXO fans are voicing their anger over BTS winning the 'Best Album of the Year' at the '2016 MelOn Music Awards,' which they argue was a result of a miscalculation by MelOn.

Here are the details of the EXO fans' argument:

First, 'Best Album of the Year' is calculated by 70% music score and 30% fan votes, according to MelOn Music website.

And the 70% -- music score is broken down into 40% streaming and 60% downloads -- which Melon calls 'Trend Chart':

According to EXO fans, EXO has topped this 'Trend Chart' consistently, and the group has almost always ranked higher than BTS during time period where MelOn says the scores were calculated. Below is the comparative ranking on Trend Chart between EXO and BTS:

What about the fan votes? EXO supporters say that the group was winning in this category as well. Following is the screen shot of the MelOn Music Awards voting page on November 19 when the voting was closed:

EXO has earned 46% of the votes and BTS has 34%, a 12% difference -- over 310,000 votes.

Understandably, many EXO fans are outraged by this seemingly unjust situation. However, BTS fans claim that they have evidence that the award went to the right person.

Here is an audio of MelOn customer care employee and a fan (supposedly EXO fan) who had a conversation about the scores between the two groups:

The conversation boils down to the Melon employee saying that the company's internal data says that BTS scored higher than EXO in the past year. He says that because the data is internal, it cannot be released to the public, but insists that there is no problem in the calculation because BTS was streamed more than EXO.

What do you guys think about the two sides of the argument? Should EXO have won the Best Album of the Year?

[Thanks to everyone who sent in the tip!]

They shouldn't be this mad. EXO is such a well-known and large group, and they've also won many awards. Whereas BTS has always done well, but they've only just become popular on a large scale. It's also a benefit in publicity for BTS that EXO simply doesn't need. And, if it was rigged, SM or Big Hit would address it publicy, with either denial or confirmation. Honestly, is this that big a deal?

apparently it's a very big deal for exols

exo is talent and bts is talent. stop bringing negative shit in here. No one on here needs trolls like you on allkpop, no one even cares for you opinion unless they're rabid fans like you who only want your group to get attention.

stupid fans, what the use of protest? if you love your bias just give your money to them AKA donate your money, I'm sure they are more than happy to receive money from their fans without having to sell their album right? what's the use award? can it be sold? no right?

I'm multifandom!!! But even now,i saw some haters insist & yell at armys that they only want EXPLANATION & try to accuse army is the worst fandom. What i want to say is can't they also understand army's feeling for a little?they insist that army will be doing the same thing too if they are in that position.Yes,they may be.So will they not response the same thing like army too if the position is changed?Although some were not talking bad, some of their friends were talking bad & even *cuss* to army & BTS for the whole 3 to 4 days since the night of BTS win.U guys will know that feeling when u guys are in their place.I mean one can forgive but u cant expect them to forget. Some haters insist army to understand them,so why didn't they try to understand army too?Cant all try to understand each other & focus only on their idols?

that's what i thought. what if exo saw their protest? wouldn't they be ashamed bcs their fans undirectly make bts look unworthy? and what if bts saw exo-l's protest? wouldn't they be sad and felt not worth for the award? those who protest should be thinking clearly, and from what i see, this fans is the immature one, doesn't understand how to appreciate other people. they can love their bias, but RESPECT is number one ckckck.
