MAMAMOO fans are riled up and angry, claiming that yet another member has been the victim of "sexual harassment."  Previously, Whee In was deemed to have been the victim of an inappropriate remark by 10cm's Kwon Jung Yeol.  Now, fans are claiming Solar is the next victim, deploring the inappropriate remark Han Dong Geun supposedly directed at her during a break on the set of 'Duet Song Festival.'

Allegedly, this conversation was recorded while the singers were on break during the recording:

Yoo Se Yoon: The way she smiles is similar to a foreign actress.

Sung Si Kyung: Who?

Yoo Se Yoon: I don't know her name.

Han Dong Geun: Megan Fox?

Sung Si Kyung: Why do you always only like the racy women?

Han Dong Geun: (looking at Solar according to witness accounts) She doesn't... not have... a racy vibe?

Fans have taken offense at the last comment by Han Dong Geun, claiming that he was "sexually harassing" Solar with it.  Many have taken to Twitter to express their anger for the remark, creating a big deal about the brief exchange.  (Note: He does not say "sexy" but something along the lines of "racy or sexual." Saying someone is "sexy" in Korean does not automatically mean "horny/sexual/revealing."  The word he used could suggest something of that nature, but "horny" is a bit of a stretch.)

Check out the tweets below.  Do you consider this sexual harassment, simply inappropriate, or a harmless passing remark?

[Thanks to everyone who sent in the tip.]

it all depends on how solar feels as a result of these comments

ah, believe me, I did. I've been reading all the resports and tweets too, and all of them said it was during a break. So how is "on a break" not off camera? is my reading comprehension that bad?

toThese situations where 'Celebrities' are 'recorded' making statements at a time when they were NOT aware of it, happens now and then. I always think the Celebrity deserves to be 'cut some slack' in that they did *not* intend their remarks for public consumption. And, in this case, with HAN DONG GEUN, what he said seems *not* that 'bad' to me anyway. I suppose that what is best, is that Celebrities do *not* make these types of 'social comments' when they are 'out and about' in public. Even on the K-TV Talk Shows, where they ask about the 'dating bias' preference, the Celebrity should have *planned* acceptable response for that question. And also, the Celebrity should *not* be afraid to say "no comment" to questions that are actually *overly intrusive* as to their *personal* views that have NOTHING to do with creating and performing K-pop Music.

Did she feel is was sexual harassment?

acchan48 Thursday, September 15, 2016

I think the translation is a bit off. He didn't say she was sexy, he said she was erotic. It was inappropriate, but I don't think it's sexual harrasment

Oh god, he voiced his opinion about Solar. I wouldn't call this a sexual harassment as he didn't say this directly to her and he didn't really bother her with sexual remarks. Once again, some people are really over exaggerating.

To you people who are calling MooMoos stupid for supposedly blowing this out of proportion because you don't understand exactly what kind of connotations the phrase HDG used to describe Solar has and feeling it doesn't qualify as sexual harassment, here's a copy-paste of UN's answer to what sexual harassment is: "Unwelcome behaviour is the critical word. [...] sexual conduct is unwelcome whenever the person subjected to it considers it unwelcome." Whether it's sexual harassment or not is not up to you or us to decide, but the fact that it makes people who aren't even on the receiving end of it feel uncomfortable says something, no?
