Netizens on YouTube are expressing their anger at Swedish boy group, The Fooo Conspiracy, for allegedly copying the dance moves from EXO's "Growl" for their track, "All Over the World"!  While the MV was released in summertime last year, a dance tutorial was released more recently on January 6, which may have brought this alleged plagiarism back to light for angry EXO-Ls.

Netizens responded in both the MV and the dance tutorial videos, flooding the comment section with, "You guys stole EXO's choreography. Please give them credit. You need to mention this is not your original dance. I know you guys took this because EXO's choreography is similar and they've been around longer than you," "Is it so hard to give credit to EXO, i mean you did use their choreography, and the only reason your views are going up are because of us exo-l trying to find oit what bs u guys did.... congrats on learning how to copy and paste [sp]," "Laughing bc you couldn't even make your own dance so you plagiarized exos growl [sp]," and more.

Check out both dances below for comparison, and let us know what you think below!

Okay I understand why EXO fans are angry in this situation and I understand the people speaking on behalf of the Swedish group. The thing is as I watched the video, it didn't seem to me that they stole/copy whatever you say THAT big of a part, yes they used certain moves that look similar to the choreography that EXO performed. However, I do not agree with people who go around bashing the Swedish group for "Oh they are not even attractive, and they are such copycats and they aren't even talented, nice job for copy and paste" that's not true obviously this Swedish group is talented, I mean even if they had just copied it, you still need to have a bit of talent to pull it off, so I don't agree with people saying that the Swedish group isn't talented, because they are I mean they are even doing some cool acrobatic moves in the song, that's cool. However, with that all being said I do agree with the EXO fans as well, yes Growl dance routines choreographer or let alone EXO or someone needed to be given credit to or some kind of props for them should have been given. But who know maybe they genuinely were not inspired by EXO's dance maybe they're choreographer thought hey if we dance like this it would be cool. But whatever...

P.S I'm an EXO-L so don't start all on "oh well you're just siding with the Swedish group," no I'm actually not, I'm just stating the facts. :))))) ;

yes i also did not understand which move is the one that they stole but welll im an EXO -L too but blaming on other isn't my way tho hahaha

mintysky Sunday, June 14, 2015

@hansii123 they took move like grabbing the crotch part of the pants and wiggle their bodies zig zag ish, and the other move where both arms are open out to turn them into an imply circle. etc

They thought that just because EXO is in South Korea and they're in Sweden that they can actually get away with this?? HOW DARE THEY. They don't know how incredibly popular EXO is! They're just making some excuses! Even if they stole only some of their dance, it's still unforgiveable! Besides they suck! I don't like them and they're not attractive! They deserve this so much hate!!

So tell me, are EXO giving tribute to Michael Jackson, NSYNC, and the American acts they got THEIR choreography from? Didn't think so.

aro_jay Thursday, January 29, 2015

@BigBlueagain Sure, EXO as well as many other singers and dancers all over the world use the same dance moves because choreography is universal, but there is a fine line between taking something as an inspiration and copying the moves sequence after sequence. The fact that you stated "tribute to Michael Jackson and etc" just cancels out your whole argument, btw. A tribute's intention is to gift/pay respects and admiration to the original performer who may or may not be widely known for their specific sort of style. What The Fooo Conspiracy did was took advantage of the fact that EXO isn't an English-speaking bang so they thought that they'd be able to pull off stealing the choreographer's/EXO's sequence of moves (note that I did not say "choreography" because one move is universal, but a whole sequence isn't) and played it off as "using EXO as an inspiration, but it backfired, now didn't it?

hana_yami Wednesday, January 14, 2015

Hey!!! thats not right they are coping EXO's dance and they are teaching it !!!! are you like fucking kidding me??? EXO worked so hard on this ;

Midorima Wednesday, January 14, 2015

As a dancer, not a K-pop fan, I think it's really important not to use "inspiration" as an excuse to copy another choreographer's work (and not credit them beforehand). The choreographer probably worked really hard on that piece and for other people to gain profit from it without permission is unacceptable.

Unless they already had permission, then that's okay.

BigBlueagain Thursday, January 15, 2015

As a dancer, you should know that this is the norm. There are only so many ways the human body can move. EXO didn't credit MJ or NSYNC. Those acts didn't credit Shalamar or others before them. There is nothing new under the sun, just different ways or choreographing it. ;)

strike1506 Thursday, January 15, 2015

As a fellow dancer, almost every dance move there is in this world is already "inspired" by other dance moves. Choreographers often copy each other and modify it. Believe me, even I copy some moves from other. But that's not copying, especially if it's just a small portion (like this case over here that we're needlessly discussing), it's giving "tribute" or what we dancers say "homage" to the original creator of the move. If you really are a dancer like you said, you know about this right? It's a different thing if you use a whole routine from someone and claim it. now that's wrong. But from what we're discussing here, based on the comparison of both videos, it can be categorized as "homage". Although this is not the first time I've seen someone do that exact same move that this group and EXO did... You can say it's kind of a common move.

@BigBlueagain i don't want to sound stupid, but i think isn't it alright legally to use nsync's and micheal jackson's dances as they are legally inactive..??........(as in dead or disbanded).......i like mj a lot so pls don't hate. i'm just asking a question......not asserting any point here.....:p

gouri Thursday, January 22, 2015

@BigBlueagain but copying exo's dances would be legally punishable as exo is still very much alive and working.....??...right?:P

BigBlueagain Thursday, January 22, 2015

@gouri A group cannot copyright a routine, the choreographer does. And it is for the entire routine, as in how all the moves were put together. It really has nothing do to with whether they are active or not. When MJ started doing the moonwalk, another dancer by the name of Shalamar had been doing it as the "backslide" for over a year. It's all been done before.

strike1506 Thursday, January 22, 2015

@gouri you're missing the point... 1-4 moves copied is fine... Among dancers there's this "unwritten rule" that you can copy a routine up to 8 beats but you can't use it more than twice in your own routine.. Besides who said EXO's choreo is original? Like I said, no dance moves are 100% original and this "move" that everyone's talking about is basically a common move... About taking legal actions, as I once said again, it is wrong when you take a whole entire routine and claim it as their own. Besides, it's not the person performing the moves that can take legal actions, it's the choreographer if he/she has certain copyright to it and if he/she even bothers to do so. We dancers tend to not bother and when we see people do our same moves, we just laugh it out and take it as a tribute cuz we appreciate it when someone actually pay attention to what we do.

gouri Thursday, January 22, 2015

@BigBlueagain thx for explaining........:)

gouri Thursday, January 22, 2015

@strike1506 hope it all ends happily ever after then..........^_^ (honestly this should have ended a long while ago if the choreographer and the dancers have no problem)

justme8986 Tuesday, January 13, 2015

Only kpop fan overreact for the smallest stuff. They didn't even copy the whole choreography. They copy like what? One or two seconds choreography in the chorus of growl? If you weren't a kpop fan and didn't study the MV or choreography of growl religiously, a lot of people probably would not even see the similarities because it is that small. I love the song growl and the choreography but I think the issue was made bigger than it needed to be.

only_perfection Tuesday, January 13, 2015

This is stealing. There's no doubt about it.

And also these boys are unappealing as fuck.

yukmang Tuesday, January 13, 2015

maybe the choreograhpy is teach/hired the same choreograhper...da... ? or western just go west.....

saranghae_3 Monday, January 12, 2015

Too similar...

Pradyy Monday, January 12, 2015

cool, so what if they're copying them. exo fans should be grateful that people are even noticing a group like exo.

soshipickles Monday, January 12, 2015

Please, you say that like NO ONE knows Exo XD there are MILLIONS and MILLIONS Exo-Ls out there we don't need these boys stealing some dance moves without crediting them ... Even if they did and copied I wouldn't have a problem with that, just the crediting is the big issue here.

sehundianne Thursday, January 15, 2015

what the hell are you talking about?? WE should be grateful that PEOPLE LIKE THEM are noticing EXO?? GOSH THEY SHOULD BE EMBERASSED AND HUMILIATED THAT THEY COPIED EXO! They should be ashamed! And you too! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THOSE BOYS HAVE BEEN THROUGH AND ALL THEIR HARDWORK IS JUST GOING TO BE COPIED BY SOME NEW BOY BAND WANNABE?? SHUT UP! YOU DON'T KNOW THEM AND THAT WHATEVER GROUP THEIR CALLED MUST STOP THIS OR ELSE!!
