The death of Yedang Entertainment's Chairman Byun Doo Sub, which the agency initially declared to be due to exhaustion, has been confirmed as a suicide.
According to those who knew him, Byun Doo Sub had been battling depression for many years, and ultimately decided to take his own life last week.
With suicide being confirmed as the cause of death, the agency was asked about their original statement, in which they directed the cause of death towards exhaustion.
"Chairman Byun's death was due to suicide. He had been suffering from depression for many years and also started to suffer from insomnia recently," an agency rep said. "When his body was first discovered, we had no way of knowing what the exact cause of death was, and afterwards, it was a decision that was made to protect his honor after discussing with his family."
The chairman's funeral was held on the 6th, which his family, friends, and company staff and artists attended as well as notable figures in the field, to pay their respects to the man who had made a mark on the music industry.
