On March 13, members of an F.T. Island gallery via online community portal DC Inside posted a written petition requesting the removal of leader Jonghun from the idol band.
Earlier this week, Jonghun received suspicion as a member of the Kakao Talk group chat room where Jung Joon Young distributed hidden camera footage to his acquaintances. The idol was then accused by news outlet YTN of requesting police insiders to cover his DUI charge.
In the petition, F.T. Island fans stated, "We request the immediate removal of member Choi Jong Hun from the band for his controversies including the solicitation of inside help from the police to cover his DUI, involvement in the aid and distribution of hidden camera footage, etc."
Fans also pointed out, "The label's earlier official statement only addressed suspicions against Jonghun regarding prostitution, but failed to address suspicions regarding Jonghun's involvement in the hidden camera Kakao chat; furthermore, Jonghun himself has yet to speak up personally about any of the accusations."
Finally, "As F.T. Island's leader, Jonghun heavily tarnished F.T. Island's image, and we suspect great damages to follow in the band's promotions from here on; therefore, we request Choi Jong Hun's removal from the band entirely, not just a hiatus," the petition reasoned.
