As a guest on the May 5 broadcast of JTBC's 'Newsroom,' Sean addressed the criticism that he shouldn't make his charitable deeds public.

Reporter Son Seok Hee remarked, "I don't understand why [people] are posting hate comments on this matter but there are comments that ask why you expose your charitable acts [to the public]."

Sean replied level headedly, "I wouldn't go so far as to call them hate comments. They just want to know why I make it public when I could have kept silent.

Sean continued, "As a celebrity, I have the responsibility of making my charities known. Isn't it nice to share the good things I do so that they spread more quickly? There is great joy in sharing so [I think] it's better if more people are aware and become involved."

The original purpose of celebs declaring their donations/show voluntary work is to inspire their fans to do the same. However, some celebs have abused those acts for their own publicity, thus the hate from some people to suspect ALL celebs declare it for publicity.

This man has done more good for Korea than all their politicians combined so to all the haters, F*CK OFF! Get off your lazy asses and do something useful for a change.

charity like other things can be contagious too... so i don't think he's trying to boast... i think he just trying to get more people to follow~~

I don't know whats wrong with piblishing your charity. It is a good way to spread the word and awareness. More people will know about the charity since he is a celebrity and hence more people will follow and help the charity as well. Whilst its good to keep quiet while giving, sometimes speaking out is not bad either. In general, whether its for public image or something else, in the end they still to help the charity.

How can you hate someone who's actually helping the community? He's not boasting and acting high and mighty, he's bringing attention to charitable events so that maybe others out there could lend a hand too. He's a good man, some people are just so bitter.

Some people are so bloody bitter and rotten on the inside that they cannot help but hate anyone who has a kind and giving nature.  Another word for them would be assholes.

I don't have a problem with it. He can get additional donors if he makes it known. People are always looking for a charities. Because they like to help or for a tax write-off.

Lol the people who are writing those hate comments are honestly just straight up haters. He is a celebrity. He actually has the power of mass social media. If he can convince even just 1 person to help the cause with a social media post isn't that great.

I agree with Sean. A celebrity, no matter the caliber, a person can reach a huge number of people with their deeds. Why not let it be positive? Look at Beiber. For all his crimes he donates a dollar from every ticket sold. Look at Jolie-Pitt. 1/3rd of their income goes to charity. I think it's their duty to publicize the charity work they do instead of other personal stuff that give everyone so much grief.
