On the October 3rd broadcast of JTBC's 'Sleeping with the Boss', FNC Entertainment artists F.T. Island and CNBLUE appeared with their CEO Han Sung Ho to discuss their honest feelings regarding the company. On this episode, Hongki particularly had a story about F.T. Island's mode of transportation.

In the clip shown above, the MCs mention a rumor that F.T. Island are currently riding a regular minivan, while CNBLUE are riding a celebrity van. F.T. Island denied the rumor, and Hongki said (at 00:24 mark), "Honestly I have something to say about this," putting his CEO on edge.

Hongki charted F.T. Island's changing transportation vehicles, saying, "We were originally using the models 'Star' and 'Nival'. During our early days [as idols] when we suddenly became popular, our company suddenly rented us the nice celebrity van."

He continued, "When we went to Japan, our domestic popularity fell, so we went back [to Star and Nival]." Annoyed by the change, Hongki stated, "And so we said to the CEO, 'We will use our own money to buy a celeb van.' And so now, we ride a celeb van."

Meanwhile, in the same video, CNBLUE noted that because F.T. Island bought their own van, the CEO told CNBLUE to buy a van too. However, contrary to F.T. Island, CNBLUE shared that they did not like the idea of spending money on a van and didn't find the vehicle comfortable anyway. The CEO then added that idols usually don't care about vans, but fans request for their idols to ride vans as if it is a necessity.

Lol~ A lot of people are saying that he's not a good CEO or fair to FT Island, but if you saw FNC's show, you could see his relationship with them. He's like a father to them, sometimes even a hyung. FT Island was their first group--the CEO doesn't treat them like money and ;they don't treat him like a CEO. Watch FNC's show and you can easily tell the different ways FT Island and CNBLUE treat him; then maybe you might actually see why he's like this with FT Island versus CNBLUE. He's one of my favorite CEOs in the idol entertainment industry.

seriously? been reading up on FNC. ;my view as a whole is: CEO Han Sung Ho ;is an even-handed and open-minded CEO who should be commended for allowing his wards to say freely what they have in mind in full view of the public under pain of being misunderstood and severely criticized. the man has character with lots of sense of humor, too. ;i would prefer working under someone like him. ;

btw, why is this show called "sleeping with the boss"?

More popularity = more money = more ability to have fancy expenditures such as a more expensive vehicle. I mean it makes sense, you get more popular you get an upgrade. However you should only have to downgrade if your popularity decreases and say you hadn't paid off that vehicle. Then it's possible you can't afford to keep it around, especially if the maintenance is high, and so you downgrade to less expensive car. ;

Now with that said, that company could probably have afforded to give the car to them and let them keep it regardless. They had a dip in popularity; they didn't completely fall off the map! XD

As a BOICE, I just want the boys to safely arrive to wherever they're are heading to, regardless of a celebrity van, regular van even a public bus.

FTISLAND and CNBLUE are working hard to earn money for the company afterall, is it really that expensive or it could cause the company to bankrupt by at least renting a good van for them to rest after each of their activity? Tbh I thought Han CEO was only being funny in CDD-111, never thought he's really kinda self-centred and tad bit biased. Pretty amazing enough that the artists under him all have good personalities and are patient enough. Probably all his strict management and demands for an FNC artist kinda narrowed all its potential people down to really good people.

Those vans cost anywhere from 80k to 120k (USD). Those vans are actually really big inside

TBH I don't think Hongki cares that much about a van... He's got his own car and scooter, and he knows what to say on broadcast to make things interesting. If he just talks about how much he loves the company, it gets boring. Stories like this are entertaining and draw attention, which is the aim of all idols. The fact that he says all these little things but doesn't actually complain about anything serious shows that he's probably quite okay with FNC as a company. If they wanted to, FT could sign with a ton of other companies. They're really popular in Japan, and they still have a lot of Primas in Korea as well. I'd imagine a lot of companies would be happy to take them on. ;

I don't like the CEO of FNC. He needs to learn how to treat his artists equally.
