[MV and Single Review] EXID - 'UP&DOWN'

EXID released the music video for their newest single, "UP&DOWN," on August 26!  

"UP&DOWN" is a bubbly song about the frustrations of an inconsistent love.  Admittedly, the "up, down, up up, down" hook is ridiculously catchy. There are many layers to this song that really display strong vocals and solid rapping. There is a funky, fun backdrop to the lyrics that make it a fun, up-beat track to sing along to.  

Although I am a fan of the song, I am, unfortunately, not a fan of the music video - at all. Normally I love colorfully weird concepts, but I really didn't understand the artistic vision behind this one. I guess there is a theme of disconnect, but to me it seemed as though someone tried to look abstract (i.e. the pineapple and grapefruit) without actually having an abstract mind, if that makes sense.  

The outfits in the music video were cute--I loved the colorful tops.  And, of course, all the members are gorgeous.  However, I thought the dance moves took all the class out of everything that makes this group likable.  There was a little too much awkward hip-thrusting for my liking...

All in all, I would say UP for the song, I would download the track--it's definitely one of those songs you can jam out to.  However, I'll say DOWN and pass on the music video.  I'm hoping their live performances are as solid as the track.
