Although she had extreme popularity in the past, singer Hwangbo is definitely one of the many veterans who have been overshadowed by the current idol craze in K-pop. However, she has recently found out about her ongoing popularity overseas, which moved her to tears.
Hwangbo recently visited Thailand in early September for promotions, and was bombarded by fans at the airport. At her fan meeting, she performed her past hit, "Mature", and was surprised by the international fans, who started to sing along to the lyrics.
Hwangbo stated, "I never even dreamed of the fans memorizing the lyrics, as it's also in a different language."
It seems like her popularity is still going strong overseas because MBC's We Got Married is a huge hit internationally. For those who do not remember, Hwangbo was paired up with Kim Hyun Joong on the first season of the show.
It's great to see lasting fame for any veteran in the industry, so let's hope it doesn't die out anytime soon!
